@emma-starr You call yourself a beginner?  Sheesh, I thought I could write poems until I read yours!

@emma-starr I know next to nothing about poems, so I don’t really have a critique (yess I am helpful aren’t I), but I just wanted to say that I normally don’t really like poems, but this one is… different. I love it.

@emma-starr it has a beautiful simplicity that makes it extremely powerful. The one thing I would change is add one more line to the end. It ends rather abruptly as it is, but something like ‘saying goodbye’ or ‘finding you in the dark’ or something equally melancholy but emotionally satisfying could smooth it out very well.

@emma-starr I think everyone should try both plotting and pansting to see what works for them.

Also, you might find this list helpful. I stole it from a video by Brandon Sanderson. It’s what he uses to outline. He just tries to make sure his story is always progressing using one of these five progression techniques.

Hey! FELLOW PANSTER! I AM ONE! Possibly one of the most panstery people you will meet. And I’ve written a novella first draft that way, a novel first draft that way, and am working on the second draft. It works!

There are a lot of successful plotters and pantsters, but one advantage of plotting things out first is that it forces you to learn about story structure and apply it to your story. Very beautiful! I love the idea of using a moonflower to describe true beauty! It’s really lovely.

I believe that writing is a very individual thing; nobody is going to be able to follow the same procedures or methods because each person functions differently.
