Love this so much! I was pulled in and held until the end. Full of both despair and hope at the same time. Somehow. Amazing work! <3

Hi all. Yeah, it’s me. Sorry I’ve been away forever. Life got rough. Well, rougher, by a lot. I’m not back yet, really, but wanted to share that the story y’all helped me with got published! Thank you SO MUCH!
Sadly, due to my inability to function, I didn’t give any notice, but if you see this today, Friday the 25th, it’s available online for…[Read more]

Well, here I am getting on this thread to share a prayer request, only to find that others are struggling too. It’s almost like we’re meant to be in the same community, or something 🙂
Lately I’ve been struggling with some deep, decade-long hurts inflicted by someone very close to me. My heart is raw and healing, and…[Read more]

@chalice – I’ve read the 4-book series by Sharon Hinke. SO GOOD. Nadine Brades is also pretty amazing, and has gone on to publish outside of Enclave. Those are probably my top two favorite authors from Enclave, though I’ve read some others. Generally they put out pretty good stuff, and anything new they publish will be top-notch now that they’re…[Read more]

@r-m-archer – Okay, thanks for the feedback! And I’ll definitely look at the last scene again. I’ll see what I can do. I appreciate you taking the time to read it 🙂
AND, thank you for all the comments on the document itself! I can see I definitely need to make some changes. Sweet!

@chalice – Yeah, worldbuilding is hard. Even though I write Fantasy, I generally start with real cultures and work from there. I have a culture based off Tongan culture, and another based off Scottish Gaelic. I use the culture and language and tweak it enough to make it mine, but it gives me a huge foundation from which to work. Helps me a…[Read more]

Ohh, thanks @noahlitle I’m pretty sure .epub is just Nook. If Kindle does read them, that’d be amazing. And uh, seriously, you can buy Round Tuits? lol. Wow, cool! I just looked at the site. That’s such a fun idea. And fits with using the 10 commandments for witnessing! (There’s a term for that I can’t think of.) Very nice. 😀

Ohhhh, ahhhhhhhh! *Applause*
So when people read these, will they apply for a specific guild, then? Or will it still be Story Embers’ (aka your) choice who goes in what guild? Just curious 🙂
Huge thanks to Josiah! And I love the story and the jewel connection to Alfred (as hinted at in the hall @kate began creating. Does this mean you’re going…[Read more]

@eden-anderson – Hey…it’s like “dork” can be my other middle name 😉 I’ve had that happen too. I’ve started copying my longest replies before I submit. It’s come in really handy before! This one seemed to go through, but…[Read more]

@eden-anderson – Ohhh, cool! Thanks. I will definitely take another look at the man-to-merman transition. Originally, I was aiming for 700 words (and went over, as usual). Now that I can go up to 1000, I have lots of options. Thanks for pointing me in a good direction for how to use those words! Don’t sell yourself short. The newest writer has…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb – Is there any way to find a missing post that just disappeared? There should be a response from me on this thread, but it’s gone. Just wondering.
Wow, well, I posted on here almost a week ago. A really long response to your question. I get on today, and poof! It’s not there. *Pout*

Ahh, Kate! I’m sorry I haven’t finished reading this yet. If it were on my Kindle, I’d have devoured it in one sitting. I was really into it! Unfortunately, my computer time is divided among many things. I shall return to it as quickly as I may. I’m looking forward to reading the rest! 😀

Hey all! This is a super short story (800 words) that I’m hoping to submit to the new Havok ezine that split off from Splickety Publishing. Anyhoo, I’d LOVE feedback if ya’ll have a minute to read it quick. 😀
I think it needs a bit more in the way of stronger verbs and unique prose. I think the core is strong enough, just…[Read more]

@kate – Yes! Love what you said about humility and following God in it. Such good reminders. Thanks 🙂

I like your Clarissa! It’s funny, ’cause I’m tall and slim with blue eyes. But not black hair 😉 She sounds pretty cool, and I’m glad she helps the hero and works for justice. Sounds like my kinda girl!

I watch as the others greet this newcomer and her cute-but-pokey little friend, and can’t help but smile, in welcome, and also in joy that Grace noticed her and invited her over.
As she poured out her story, it tugged on my heart. I couldn’t understand it all from experience, but fear and I are old enemies. I did know from experience that…[Read more]
