Your characters sound super cool. Love the names!
@dakota Hiya sis
Would your character rather give even though you knew the gift wasnât appreciated/was being wasted or would you hold back?
Bash: I’d hold back the gift. People already have so many gifts and they usually waste them.
Gray: I’d give the gift anyway. As l…[Read more]

I’ve always preferred crafting darker story lines.
That’s cool! My sister @dakota plays guitar as well. I’m a super outdoorsy/tomboy type. I love things like hunting, fishing, forging(like blacksmithing stuff tho I don’t do it alot), trucks đ But I also do things like crocheting and reading on occasion. So yeah I…[Read more]

Hey @anne-of-lothlorien thanks for joining the conversation here! And I totally agree with you on a personal level because free verse has become my preferred poetry writing style for some of the same reasons as you shared. Free verse offers a lot of freedom of expression, and when it’s handled artfully, it can express a LOT in a very poetic way.…[Read more]

@dakota I can easily see this as a song because while I was reading it, I started fitting it to a tune in my head! Some poetry does that for me, where I can easily come up with a little tune in my head as I go along. I think it’s very open and honest, and it’ll make a great song. đ

Hey @dakota and @sparrowhawke , again, thanks for continuing the conversation here.
Dakota, I think you’re onto something there. By no means do we want to condone or encourage the kinds of dark things in our lives or the lives of our characters. But at the same time, what will the light be triumphant over if we glaze over the darkness or…[Read more]

Hey @dakota , this is definitely uplifting in a worship music song lyrics kinda way. Is that what you’re aiming for?

How interesting @dakota! what is your fanfiction about?
Here’s the first description(s) of my MC’s love interest, it’s a fast-paced scene so I had to scatter her descriptions around a bit. (if you want to read the whole story, I posted it here: Forum â Sci-fi Writers â Story Embers the topic is Sci-Fi short story).

I had been kind of wavering on my end; I’m about to start classes for my conservatory, and I’m also working and balancing other life stuff. I’m not sure I’ll have much time to commit, and I’ll probably only keep having less. So… I think what I might do is find a way to pull my characters out organically. I don’t want…[Read more]

Hi guys. Unfortunately I think I have to step out. I really enjoyed this and I’d love to continue, but I don’t have the time I wish I had to give to this. So I’m officially leaving this project.

That’s much better! (To me, at least XD)
Depending on how fast-paced your scene is, you could add a few action beats between the description. If your POV character is more confused than actually scared, this will definitely work, but if you’re in the middle of a chase scene, you could split it up more by moving the “I need a place to…[Read more]

Nonono that is not too much detail and there is no such thing as âtoo much detailâ if you incorporate it in an engaging way and that was fun to read! It showed so much character and really brought me into the scene.
