Hey sister there a lot I could say
Bottled up inside of me. A well over flowing, never empty
But I can’t. It just seems like there’s no way
Words are just too weak. My phrases fail to meet the need

I’m burning with desire, all consumed with this fire
Of wanting to do something to help
I’m standing right here watching as you struggle
And wishing there was something I could do
    What can you do?

When the storms roll right back in
    When the battles begin again
When it looks like you’re standing out all alone
When it all collapses to dust
    When heroes fail your trust
When agony cuts right through you to the bone
    What can you do?

Hey brother, there’s a lot you’ve been through
Broken time and time again, always fighting but can never win
And I can’t know just how it feels to live
Lonely, seemingly unseen and these struggles make you bleed

I’m drowning in my tears, yet uncertain with many fears
Of wanting not to make it all worse
I’m standing right here watching as you struggle
And wishing there was something I could do
    What can you do?

When the storms roll right back in
    When the battles begin again
When it looks like you’re standing out all alone
When it all collapses to dust
    When heroes fail your trust
When agony cuts right through you to the bone
    What can you do?

I’ll take on the runaway train
And if I could take away the pain I would
Any of your enemies will find themselves withstood
And if my blood, my death would save the day,
    I’d gladly give it away
This is what I would do
    But what should I do?

When the storms roll right back in
    When the battles begin again
When it looks like you’re standing out all alone
When it all collapses to dust
    When heroes fail your trust
When agony cuts right through you to the bone
    What should I do?

    What does He say?
    What is His way?
To weep with those who weep, rejoice when they rejoice
Love is more than a feeling but a choice
To bear all things,to believe all things and to hope all things
    And lay down it’s life

    No greater love
    No greater love
Than laying down one’s life for his friends
Until it comes to that end
    What I can do

Is when the storms roll right back in
    When the battles begin again
When it looks like you’re standing out all alone
Pray and point you to the Rock, the Anchor, the Cornerstone
When it all collapses to dust
    When heroes fail your trust
When agony cuts right through you to the bone
Pray and point you to the Light, the Way, the God who knows all your pain
    It’s what I’ll do

These words aren’t stubble on the wind
They’re drawn from deep within my heart
And who knew that saying Only God Can would be so hard
But for now that’s all I can do
    And pray for you
    I’ll be here waiting
    Praying, hoping, ready
Willing to do anything I can
And leave the rest in His hands

When the storms roll right back in
    When the battles begin again
When it looks like you’re standing out all alone
When it all collapses to dust
    When heroes fail your trust
When agony cuts right through you to the bone
He’ll always be there! His word will light the way
And by His grace I’ll be here to stay
    It’s what I will do.

    So . . . what do y’all think?

    Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

Hey @dakota , this is definitely uplifting in a worship music song lyrics kinda way. Is that what you’re aiming for?

@sir-leeds Well, it was meant to be lyrical. Most of what I write is meant to be song  . . . someday. But sometimes, like this one, it was just me processing what I wanted to say to someone but didn’t know how. A song that was meant to be sung to someone but probably never will be.

So, in short, yes. Though I’m not really sure it would classify as a worship song.

    Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

@dakota I can easily see this as a song because while I was reading it, I started fitting it to a tune in my head! Some poetry does that for me, where I can easily come up with a little tune in my head as I go along. I think it’s very open and honest, and it’ll make a great song. 🙂

I'm short, I like words, and I love people.
No, I didn't draw my profile pic.

@anne-of-lothlorien I do the same thing, though sometimes in reverse. Like a piece of instrumental music will inspire lyrics in my head.

    Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
