I’m so glad I found Story Embers. It’s amazing!

How great is your light when you sacrifice all you have for those who have nothing to give.

Hi Ava! I am Josh and Story Embers is one of the few best things that God has led me to on my path to be Christian Fantasy writer. It is great to have you here with us and love your username! Is it something from a WIP? What genre(s) do you enjoy writing? What are some of your favorite novels?

Hey Josh! About the username, I have yet to name it after one of my books/stories, so I chose Koren because she is one of my favorite characters from a Bryan Davis book, Dragons of Starlight. If you haven’t read anything from him, you should totally try it! Anyway, my main genre would definitely be fantasy. Favorite novels? Let’s see. Anything from Bryan Davis and the Wingfeather Saga are definitely at the top of my list. If you haven’t read the Wingfeather Saga, it’s amazing, and their putting out episodes on Youtube now. Praise God for Story Embers!

Hey! I haven’t been here in forever. Welcome to Story Embers. My name is Rebecca. So I LOVE fantasy, though I rarely write it myself. I’m more of a dark Thriller/Psychological Horror type person. My writing has evolved a bit and gotten darker and darker as it went along. LOL

What’s some other things you enjoy doing besides writing? Got any fun hobbies? What’s your favorite type of music?

Hey Rebecca! Fantasy is definitely amazing, and it’s one of my favorite things to write about. While I don’t go into a whole lot of horror type writing, that’s half because I’m just not that great at writing like that lol. Besides writing? I play in youth and adult worship for a couple churches on my guitar, and I love to read. Just hanging out with my friends is one of my favorite hobbies!

Also, if you have a WIP, I would love to swap notes with anyone who is working on something! I’m working on the planning aspect of writing, but have written multiple drafts of books, a few of which were over 110,000 words.

    A+ on the username, btw!

Oh, I almost forgot. Can anyone tell me how do you do the little quote at the bottom of your messages? Is that the forum signature thingy?

I’ve always preferred crafting darker story lines.

I play in youth and adult worship for a couple churches on my guitar,

That’s cool! My sister @dakota plays guitar as well. I’m a super outdoorsy/tomboy type. I love things like hunting, fishing, forging(like blacksmithing stuff tho I don’t do it alot), trucks 😆 But I also do things like crocheting and reading on occasion. So yeah I have a lot of interests.

I have two or more WIPs going pretty much at all times lol. But nothing super plotted yet.

And yes I believe that is called the forum signature 🙂

Hello again! I also enjoy outdoors stuff like that. Anything outside with the sun, especially if there’s wind, although I love being outside in storms, too. So, I guess I’m kind of weird.

While my two best friends are girls and love writing and art more than anything, I mostly hang out with boys, because they were the only other kids in my neighborhood. So, yeah. I love hunting, fishing, all kinds of sports, and adventuring through our creek when I can. In fact, we just moved next to a park by baseball diamonds, so I’ll definitely be at the stands watching games when I can.

Can’t say I’ve tried blacksmithing lol, but it would be awesome to make something like a sword. Thanks for the help!

    Storms are awesome!

I’m also hung out with boys for most of my life. But I have a lot of close friends who are girls too.

I really should try to make a sword sometime lol

Yes I have a friend who makes wooden weapons, so that’s cool. Is it just me or do you have a hard time writing differently for a male perspective than from a female one? Sometimes I think it’s rough, but other times it’s simple.

Also, which do you like better? Writing fiction on earth or in your own world? I’m always interested to ask this question, because I’ve tried both.

@koren-the-starlighter Hello!  It’s great to have you here!  Story Embers has been such a huge blessing in my life, and I’ve met so many friends through this community.  I hope it’ll be a blessing to you too <3

Right now I’m working on a fantasy inspired by Prohibition and a short story set in WW1.  I’m also working on developing an idea for a WW1 historical fantasy 🙂

    What’s your WIP about?

Alright, I have a bunch of possible WIPs, but I’ll give you a couple of my favorites.

In both there are fantasy worlds. First, one of my WIPs is about three kids with special gifts, destined to save the human race from dragons. Another one is specifically dragons, no humans, and is about a dragon queen’s quest to regain her lost memories. I’ve always wanted to try historical fiction, too, so your idea about WW1 sounds amazing!

No, I am surprised I have never heard of him and will definitely check it out. My favorite is fantasy too. The Wingfeather Saga is next on my reading list but I have heard so much, I feel like I have already read it. XD My top favorite fantasy series is Redwall by Brian Jacques. My other top favorites are Lord of the Rings, The Inheritance Cycle, and Narnia.

Your WIP’s sound really interesting. You must really like dragons. XD My WIP is a mix of fantasy, steampunk, alternate earth modern age, and space. It will go through different eras of time till we get to space age that will be like star wars/star trek. It is a very ambitious project XD But it has a lot of dragon in every way possible. lol

Which WIP do you favor the most if you had to pick one to focus on?

If I had to pick out of those two, probably the one where the kids have special gifts. However, I have recently began another WIP with a writing group, a sci-fi story with lots of fantasy added in, like magic. Your WIP sounds really cool! And yes, I do like dragons XD. Oh,and I’ve heard of the other two, but Lord of the Rings and Narnia are amazing. I’ve read the books and seen the movies lol
