@kayla-skywriter No problem! Good luck moving forward 🙂
@arindown Right now I’m working on a Beauty and the Beast retelling that’s a contemporary fantasy. How about you?

Me too, @arindown. But I’m curious…is your first line actually a fragment, or are you just including the first part of your first sentence?
I actually have two books published, @winter_rose, and one coming soon. You can check them out on my website here: https://shardsofsevia.wordpress.com/

@kayla-skywriter No problem! I forgot to mention that the section on her website is called “How to Structure Your Story”.
I think a pantser is someone who likes to write spontaneously and do little to no planning beforehand. The ‘plotter” on the other hand, usually likes to start with some sort of outline before writing their story. I don’t think…[Read more]

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I’ll probable try that.
Thank you, I do struggle with plot especially in larger works. I’ll use that.
That view does help, I’ll keep that in mind. But… What’s a Panster?
Yeah, I’m more like a kid ready to order off the adult menu than a five-year…[Read more]

@arindown I’ve read The Silmarillion, although it was difficult to get through and I don’t remember most of it now, lol. That’s the only one. ;P I think my dad has all three of the new books, but I haven’t read them yet.

Would you rather lose your vision or your hearing?
Iyan: *scratches head* well either way I’d probably lose my job. But I think I’d rather be blind.
Jordan: I’d really rather not hear another disgusting word anyone says to me.
Shelby: *agrees with Iyan* yeah. I’d lose my job, but I’d rather…[Read more]

Whoa . . . I got way behind on this thread. Oops!
Would you rather be ignored or be criticized?
Dayton: *snorts* “Either way, I won’t be affected. I care very little about what people think about me. But I suppose I’d rather be criticized than ignored.”
Alan: “Uhh . . . I think I’d rather be ignored. Being criticized all the time would be .…[Read more]

@arindown Ooh, also good moments. (Especially Aragorn and Legolas’s argument.)
Ooh, both of those are good! I ended up with a whole list on this last read-through, lol (including Tom Bombadil), but I think The Scouring of the Shire is tops on the list. It showed just how far the darkness had spread, it had some great themes, and it allowed the…[Read more]

@lonathecat, I have to say that the LoTR books are better than the movies, but the movies really made the books come alive for me. I can’t really choose a favorite between the three books or movies, though. They’re all really good.
When I have time, I will definitely look at getting Beren and Luthien from the library. Have you ever read Tolkien’s…[Read more]

Thanks for the welcome! I am definitely a fellow LoTR fan. Which do you like better, the books or movies? And what is your opinion of the Hobbit? I tried reading the Silmarillion a few years ago and could just never get into it. I may need to retry it again. I will also have to look into Beren and Luthien. It’s so nice to meet…[Read more]

@arindown Thank you!
Hey, if it works. Some stories benefit from grand worlds, some are better kept simple.
I haven’t yet. They’ve been on my TBR for ages, and I think I have at least the first couple on my kindle, but all of the unread books on my physical shelf keep distracting me. XD I might have to push them up on the list! 🙂

Haha, yeah I get that. I have a lot of friends like that too.
Yes! I’ve always thought they’re beautiful too. And lol, yes I get that too. I don’t know if I’m good at it, but I enjoy it. 🙂
Aw, thank you. That means a whole lot. I’ll admit, the road hasn’t been easy. I thought adoption would be. But it really…[Read more]

I agree with you on that. Most of my favorites are ones that I can relate to. I especially find myself rooting for the characters who don’t get enough attention or love from other characters. Which is actually kind of ironic, since then I never really like the main characters that the author wants me like because I think they get too…[Read more]

@arindown, Kyerin sounds like a cool guy, and a very strong character. You should definitely write his story. That’s often how series are born, after all. Do you pronounce his name with two syllables, or three?
@dacelo, “Reaper” sounds more like an Apache call sign than a person’s name, but from the way you’ve described this girl’s dark past, I…[Read more]

@arindown – Heyo! I have three collages almost finished for you – the only thing is that I still can’t figure out how to properly put pictures up on here. They’re not loading. So if you have an email you wouldn’t mind posting here, that’d be super great, but if not, I’ll keep trying to figure it out.

@arindown Ah nice, it’s cool that you live in Ontario! When you say Northern Ontario, how far north are we talking? North Bay north, or even further up? xD I was born in the somewhat sleep town of Deep River, if you happen to know where that is 😛
