@taylorclogston Duuuuude it’s great that you have 36 credits done already. I had like 6 😛 So if you do decide to go to college, you’ve got a year out of the way already. I don’t know what to tell you… I guess don’t just settle for something you can live with, but something you can’t live without.
@cassandraia Congratulations on your…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose @cassandraia I’d probably want feedback in within a month, if you think that could work.

Awesome! It’s ready for beta-reading now. How I like to do this is to split beta-reading into two or three run-throughs. So I’ll start group one out and then as soon as I’ve taken into…[Read more]

COOL!! Yeah, I’m not so swift at creating worlds either, as I’m been finding out recently. And totally understandable that you still have lots of details to fill in about this world, it’s culture, and the way it functions, especially depending on how early you are into the writing process of this particular story.
Hope things…[Read more]

Okay. I love history and learning about different cultures, so your beginning was really fascinating and I could tell right away that it was a different culture. 🙂 Is it made up or similar to ancient Greek or Roman or some sort of pagan culture? If you don’t mind me asking? I find these sort of things really interesting as I said.

@taylorclogston, amazing story! Or the start of one. I really like the detail you give in the beginning. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Daeus Lamb replied to the topic Completely rethinking a story! in the forum Plotting 8 years, 1 month ago
@taylorclogston Whew! That’s tough. My belief is that you shouldn’t publish something you don’t think is high quality, but if you’ve already done that, what then?
I actually self-published a novel about two years back that I’m still struggling over. It was publishable I think, but I’ve also improved quite a lot since then and I don’t exactly w…[Read more]

Hello everyone!
Sorry I haven’t had a chance to reply to you. I guess life got in the way. 🙂
Thanks so much for the advice on redeeming villains. I do think I seem to err on making it too easy, which is why I never liked my redemption stories. You gave me great ideas for another “bad” character that I had already planned on r…[Read more]

@kb-writer You should really read G.K.Chesterton’s mysteries. They have a lot of Christian elements and are very well written. I think you could write something like that and many people would enjoy it.
I also believe that some of the most worthy stories written do not contain a gospel message. Like @taylorclogston said, I don’t think this is…[Read more]

@taylorclogston @wordsmith @kb-writer All of you, thank you so much for your advice. It is truly helpful, and given me some clarity. It seems like a reoccurring theme is to read God’s Word, which I have admittedly been struggling with recently (and by recently I mean for the past year or so ^^’). Thanks for the advice! I’m glad to hear you feel it that way. I don’t feel particularly bad about not including the gospel, but I was wondering if I should. 🙂
My hope is that this story could be enjoyed by anyone, but I particularly had a Christian audience in mind (who wanted a mystery that was complex and exciting, but still c…[Read more]

Howdy! My name’s Wordsmith.
What @taylorclogston said about not using transient feelings as evidence as God’s will is important to remember. God gives us His will through His word, the holy scriptures.
I think it’s important to keep our minds in His word. We can find joy in that.
Have you ever copied down scripture? Just written it…[Read more]

Your story sounds pretty interesting too! 🙂 Are you planning on having this a novella, novel, etc., or is this like a series or something?

@taylorclogston, oh, interesting. *clasps hands together and grins*
I don’t play cards much, but what you’re doing sounds like a cool idea.
So… what about this realitypunk story (is that a genre or something?) Did you just recently come up with this story, or have you been working on it for a long time now?
