Arindown replied to the topic Fellow Artists, do you struggle with the problem of– in the forum Art Discussions 5 years, 4 months ago
I used to struggle with this, but now I don’t as much. I’ve become comfortable with how I draw and how it turns out. Mistakes are only mistakes if you see them like that.
Actually, I was shocked, but when I started Instagram, some of my most popular drawings were rough, messy, sketches of people from church.😄 My more “finished”…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic Writing Romances With Lots of Standards in the forum Romance Writers 5 years, 5 months ago
I am really impressed with your convictions to write Godly romance. I’m also a teenage girl who’s never been on a date…so I don’t really know anything about this, but I do have some ideas.😄
Like Zee said, making Kimberly really insecure in other areas of life will make her reluctance to start a relationship with Carter more…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic Book Recommendations?? in the forum Themes 5 years, 5 months ago
My top recommendation would be Andrew Peterson’s Wingfeather Saga. They are amazing, and honestly, the best series I have ever read. I’d even rate them (slightly) above Lord of the Rings, and Chronicles of Narnia.

Go Chiefs!😍 Pat Mahomes is amazing. And so is Hill…but I don’t like his attitude much. Edwards-Elaire and Kelce are pretty cool too.

Arindown replied to the topic Writing book summaries! in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 5 months ago
I think writing a book blurb is like writing the first sentence of your book. It has to hook your reader.
I think the best blurbs are ones that leave me with unanswered questions. Questions that the book will answer for me. What are the Jewels of Anneria? Why does everyone distrust Heather and Picket Longtreader? Where to the cupboards in Henry’s…[Read more]

I don’t go for the Panthers because they’re good.😄 haha At least I don’t have to deal with Cam Newton’s press conference getup anymore.😂
Yeppp…Go Chiefs! There’s nothing like watching Hill on those long catch and runs. Even if he is a little cocky about his own talent.
Derik Henry is cool (King Henry). I think my favorite…[Read more]

I love this. I always thought I’d start my character eulogies with a poem.😄
“A heart so very bold with right, It lights the veins with spark, And carries them through the night, And drags them through the dark.”

Hey *waves* Nice to meet another writer who doesn’t drink coffee.😄 I only like it if it’s iced.
I’m Arindown. Teenage girl that loves cats, fantasy, and farming. At the moment, I’m trudging through the first draft of my first novel.
Would you mind sharing what one of your “main” work-in-progresses is about?😉

I love football. *raises hand*
I tend to like certain players rather than teams, but I usually cheer for the Carolina Panthers (they have the best team colors) and the Kansas City Chiefs (my home state is Kansas). I dislike the Patriots rather strongly and now the Buccaneers…mostly because all the annoying Tom Brady…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic Another Writing Question! in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 5 months ago
I personally am not apposed to characters coming back…as long as it’s done properly. One thing you might want to keep in mind is how you kill your character. If you have them stabbed in front of everyone and someone checks their pulse and announces them dead, it’s going to be hard to bring them back believable. But, if you, for…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic Good book on digital art? in the forum Art Discussions 5 years, 5 months ago
I can’t think of any books that I know of, sorry. You might be able to find some videos on YouTube that he could watch, or just finding digital art that he could use as reference.
Aeden Peterson (Andrew Peterson’s son, I don’t know if you’ve heard of him) does some really nice digital art. Also, Chalice (who is on Story Embers) is really…[Read more]

@lonathecat Awww, thanks.
As for not smudging charcoal…I can’t help you much.😄 I try not to worry about smudging too much. It’s frustrating when it erases detail, but I find that a little smudging here or there can actually look better. My tactic is usually to get as dirty as possible at the beginning, and then finish up with dark detail and…[Read more]

I totally get leaving a drawing and coming back. I do that pretty often. Sometimes it’s just not a “good day” for drawing. Your drawing turned out really well though.
Liorah sounds amazing. I do have some stubborn characters. The person who hates the Outrider the most, Prince Derik, kind of stole a main role, and continues to…[Read more]

@rose-colored-fancy No way! That drawing is epic!😍 The lighting, and the detail…it’s really amazing. Liorah’s dress looks perfect.
It’s so cool that you use Krita! I’ve actually never met anyone else who uses Krita before.😄

@crazywriter You have some good points. I do see how it could be confusing to some people.
As for the Tash stuff…I was always confused by it too. I’m not sure what Lewis meant to do there, or if he meant anything at all.

I was going to show you a sketch I have of the Outrider, but I can’t find it at the moment.
Here’s a charcoal of one of his brothers (not the villain).

I’ve actually never done the 50k challenge on NaNo…although I’d like to sometime.😉 I want to finish my current novel, and maybe do the next one on NaNo.
Do I write in other genres? Well…kinda. I dabble in just about anything that interests me. The only genre I’ve never “tried” is horror, and I think I’m good without it.…[Read more]

Thanks for pointing out that we need to be cautious not to write another “god” into our stories. Although I think you have a point about not leaning toward Mormonism, I don’t think that you’re totally right that it’s better to only portray God through characters.
Aslan, in the Chronicles of Narnia, is very much a God figure. C.S.…[Read more]
