Emily Waldorf started the topic Writing Sprint Group in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 6 months ago
Hello everyone!
I am trying to get 4-6 people together to form a writing spring group. Basically, we get together at scheduled times to do writing sprints. It could be weekly, biweekly, monthly, whatever. I just think it would be good for me to do sprints, and it would be so much funner and more accountable with others!
I was hoping we could…[Read more]

I have found…*gasps* a language room?! I
mighthave babbled incoherently about grammar structure when I found this place 😂. I think the phrase is “geek out”? If so, that’s what I’m going to do.I’ve been working on a language for about ten years, but it’s been really getting refined in this past year or so. Thing is, I’m the only one who’s s…[Read more]

I recently joined SE. Time to resurrect some rooms, bwahaha! 😇😂
Would fire breathing turtles be classified as dragons, turtles, or something else? If the turtle is a dragon, and dragons aren’t turtles, could I still call it a fire breathing turtle or would it be a shelled dragon?
On a more serious note, do y’all understand villains better if y…[Read more]

Of course!
Ahhh, that makes sense! Fog tends to disperse with light, though. You might want to add a bit of something to make it clear that the fog is what causes low visibility, not something else. 😉
*fp* I have this sinking feeling that it’s going to be one of those love/hate relationships where the author side of me is like,…[Read more]

As night fell, and the sun slipped beneath the horizon, the fort bustled with activity. Various measures were being taken to maximize it
’s security, and breastworks were being constructed about twenty yards from the walls. No plan had been decided on, but Abner, Major Maguire, and Commander W…[Read more] -

With shouts of triumph, the fort’s defenders welcomed the reinforcements. It took the company of almost 500 men more than an hour to get inside the fort, simply because of the narrow gate
,and the many wagons of supplies.Major Maguire led the column, but broke away to s…[Read more]

OH NO IS IT THAT ONE YOU MENTIONED?!
Sorry, if this is overloading you, but I can’t thank you enough.
Hey, no problem! I have time specifically set apart for critiquing, so it’s just a matter of whether I’m diligent or not. 😛

In the morning, a gray fog had settled over the fort and the surrounding terrain, minimizing visibility
,and giving the land aneeryeerie look. Abner woke early, and patrolled the walls, straining his eyes for any sight of the enemy, but…[Read more] -

Excellent character voice is extremely hard to pull off, and so like I do with all hard things in life, I decided to make a game out of it.
It’s a joke.
I’m kidding.
Mostly. 😉
Anyways, to the point. Character voice makes everything from dialogue to normal scenery descriptions pop off the page, but, for me at least, it is a very difficult…[Read more]

Abner wiped sweat off his brow

OK, well, all the more reason to be glad you’re doing well.
Ah, yes! That’s good; I’m glad people do that.
Huh. I’ve never heard someone say that. It is an amazingly written book! Do you like the writing, the story, the allegory, all of it? I have trouble choosing. I might have to go with The Magician’s Nephew or the Horse and His…[Read more]

Alrighty y’all, I love the dystopian genre, and I’ve been wanting to begin plotting a series for a while now, but unique and fresh plot ideas have been escaping me.

- An oppressive and autocratic government that is usually lying to its people…
