Thanks for the tips!
One caveat is that this works for me, but might not work for someone else. I like a lot of structure and plotting everything, and this technique is informed by that.
I should’ve done that as well. I outline the character actions and interactions quite heavily, but the combat sequences not so much. My…[Read more]

Maybe, but my brain likes to write everything in order–no filling things in after I write the bare bones. But perhaps I will try it.
A sound set of steps!
Third (if I’m smart) I get someone to read it.
This is probably the most valuable thing we can all do. I shall get around to it someday. x…[Read more]

Every time I attempt a battle/skirmish sequence with several different parties and character goals, my writing spirals downwards into an abysmal mess of telling, forced introspection, and an all around lack of suspense and scene immersion. This is despite my efforts to focus on emotions and senses. In fact, I feel like emotions sometimes take over…[Read more]

Alrighty, let me know what y’all decide. Discord would work great for something like this, so that option would earn my vote.

I might be up for this. I’ve been having a difficult time making steady progress in my book. However, I must forewarn you, Emily, I am downright awful at sprints. But I’ll do my best. 🙃
Was there a consensus on how we schedule times? I can’t make any promises, but I would try to partake in one or two.

Yeppers. But it still stinks when a book takes 3 months longer to write than it was supposed to. 🙂

Alrighty, I’m gonna try to do some outlining today and tomorrow in preparation for NaNo. I’ll be finishing up a book and then starting a new one, hopefully. You ready to get writing?

I feel ya, but just sayin’, that is not a big deal at all. Worry about that when you’re line editing and in between books. Of all the problems to have, free-flowing, but mediocre prose is an awesome one. I’m over here wavin’ goodbye to 10k words a week because I’m either lazy or uninspired or both. 🙂

I’m participating in it unofficially–and by that I mean I will attempt to write 50k+ this coming November. I could drop in on this forum every now and then to offer what assistance I can. You planning on writing a book from start to finish or just 50k of it?

Hey Gracie, saw my tag and figured I should drop by.
I’m currently plotting three series in my head at once right now (probably not a wise thing to do) but those antagonists aren’t developed as much, so I’ll talk about my current WIP. I love central villains, but I also love antagonists that are morally gray in that they are…[Read more]

Just curious, if I delete my acount and then, eventually, make a new one, will all my old comments stay or disappear? -

We commented at nearly the same time, so I didn’t see your response until I posted mine. In regard to the deacon thing, I believe I aptly responded to all of your points in my response to Lona. I would highly recommend you compare several translations and see how being open to many different version like the NIV shows…[Read more]

here’s your verse example:
“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae. I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of his people and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been the benefactor of many people, including me.” Romans 16: 1-2, NIV.
Ah, I figured this would be the cas…[Read more]

@obrian-of-the-surface-world and @lonathecat
I’ll just give a couple quick thoughts.
Lona, basing woman’s roles of a single word is not usually a wise thing. Words are defined in context, not by a single use. As I mentioned before, God is the head of the Son (Christ), as Man is the head of the Woman. Each are equally important and strong…[Read more]

Ezer refers to the woman as a ‘helper’ to the man, I believe. Helper meaning an essential hero and preserver of the man, not a servant.
You, my good man, don’t say things in halves. xD I’ll make a few comments, starting at the end of your post.
I believe you are conflating compromising/putting feelings…[Read more]
