Avin
No noise whatsoever, except the sound of his own footsteps. He paused. Not natural.
He closed his eyes, trying to erase the life of a duke from his mind. Then he opened them slowly and started forward again, noiseless even though he wore hard-soled shoes. But still he grimaced at the little crunching sounds of gravel beneath his…[Read more]

I seriously have no time for this, but I can’t quite resist the opportunity of posting one of my all -time favorite characters, even if it’s only once.
Introducing Avin Merrlesby, Duke of Westlyn. (A as in “Cave”; i as in “in”)
Personality: cool and quiet, with lots of skeletons in the closet, you might say.
Married to one of the prettiest…[Read more]

@jared-williams CONGRATULATIONS on finishing it!!!!!!
I won’t be able to help you out; I’m sorry. Thanks for thinking of me, though.

@everyone I’m doing an online cleanse (of sorts), so I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up. Feel free to use Isella, and I’ll try to write some, but I have an inkling that I’ll be short on time from now on, so if it gets too problematic you can kick her out, or I’ll remove her. Keep being awesome!

@rose-colored-fancy that’s okay! Just take your time. I’m in the process of over-committing, myself…
@Jared-williams Happy Easter! I hope you had a great one. This post looks like so much fun and awesome! I’m afraid I don’t have time to read it now, but I will try when I’m back online in a few days.

@rose-colored-fancy praying for you!
@jared-williams no, it wasn’t you. This castle dies periodically. After a while someone resuscitates it and we have a mad frenzy of posting until the next hiatus. 🙂

Fatally or not fatally?

Go ahead and post it! 8-900 words was about what I was thinking was a bite-sized excerpt (for me) anyway. 🙂
That’s okay, I never know how long my works in progress will end up, either!

I might be interested if the excerpts are short! I plan to not be on too much, but that’s better than nothing, Ig?
Congrats on starting a new (and first!) story! I have two WIPs (Work In Progress): a retelling of Sleeping Beauty with role reversals, and one about two brothers whose relationship has shattered due to tragedy in the family…[Read more]

I only hope I can make him a character to match her. *scrunches up face in doubt and confusion*.

I don’t know if what happened back there was entirely clear so here’s a short of it:
Isella held time–and hence, the cloud–still for about a minute. Enydd ran up and was going to touch Issa, but that could result in disaster, so Isella told her to run. May and Halmar were able to get up, but they’re sick from getting so close to the cloud and…[Read more]

Thanks! And YAYYAYAY. Poor Daire. he couldn’t have chosen a hero more reluctant to be worshiped.
Mmm-hmm. And a certain someone… 🙂
Well I know, but I don’t understand why people want big-brother SCs instead of MCs. Whatever *shruggs* they also don’t like adjectives or tropes, and I…[Read more]

Isella
She could feel herself blushing. Stupid thing to do. Lorcan’s quick eye glanced her up and down. He saw, and didn’t care. He treated it as something normal. Of course. He’s handsome enough he’s used to ladies blushing when he talks to them.
She cursed herself and blushed deeper with embarrassment, then tried to force the color out of her…[Read more]

I don’t actually know those languages, lol. I’m sort of learning Spanish, but…yeah.
Cool! Do you have mermen, too? Those one-word titles can be so gripping! I’m currently working on two WIPs, When Morning Comes, a story about two brothers whose relationship has stagnated through a tragedy and their journey back to mutual…[Read more]

Thanks! I’m afraid I can’t tell you any more about the heartbeat of eternity, because it’s not something I’ve thought out, lol. I was reminded of one line in a poem by Rupert Brooke: [underlined]
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
