Hi @emma-starr,
So glad to hear that our feedback has been helpful to you! Can’t wait to see the next draft of this poem. And here’s the poem you asked for. Like I said earlier, Story Embers turned it down mostly because it wasn’t embellished enough, but I really didn’t want this one to be overly embellished. I liked the straightforward language…[Read more]

I saw that no Rillumen members had responded yet so I thought I’d go ahead and tag y’all just in case anyone missed it.
I’ve spent moke time baking so far this week than writing.¯_(ツ)_/¯   I will definitely try to wring a couple of hundred words out of tonight though. Does anyone have a word goal for this week?…[Read more]

@emma-starr I think it’s lovely. Â I think you have some great images in there, but you could, as @sir-leeds said, “embellish” it a bit. Â For example, try not to use trite expressions. Â We know that winter is grey and cold, now let us see it in a new way. Â So instead of saying the tea is cold, you could say it has “lost its warmth, lost its sou…[Read more]

@emma-starr I love it!
However, like @sir-leeds said, Story Embers has a very particular style they like and I have my own style and you have yours. *shrugs* I’m not sure what to tell you. 😛

Hi @emma-starr,
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Okay, I can kind of see your theme now. Hmm…alright, these are just my thoughts, so take them or leave them, but I think that if your goal is to portray healing over the course of a year, you could experiment with the narrator struggling with an actual physical ailment that either gets better over the…[Read more] -

Hi @emma-starr,
There are some good lines here. I especially enjoyed:
“It isn’t so heavy
When it’s quiet.”
And “The limp leaves are still dripping
In the after-silence.”
It seems like this poem is trying to show mood changes through the seasons. Is that right? If so, you seem to be doing well at showing instead of telling and engaging the…[Read more]

Oh, oops! Sorry, I was writing on my phone and it was really weird settings. What I MEANT to say was, “Okie dokie. :)”
I have no idea how all that got switched around! Lol🤣 whoops-
Oh! Haha! Yeah

So many people say something like this. XD

Yeah; how’s the publication of your story going?
-
It’s going pretty good! I’m just working on the last set of edits and then they can do the typesetting. It’s so weird that it’s actually happening, though!
-
Cool! That sounds great! Is it going to be both digital and physical or just one of the two?
-
Thankfully it’ll be both. I’m pretty glad about that. 🙂 I’m most excited for the paperback copy, though.
-
Awesome! That sounds cool! How many pages is it again?
-
I’m not sure how many pages it’ll be in a book, but in google docs it’s about 40 pages. So pretty short (around 16,000 words).

Haha, I figured after I investigated the first confusing notification from a “Leon”. Thanks for the heads-up! 😀

Yea, sure!

Hey, guys, I’ve an idea: to write a series of poems that evoke feelings within people. (Don’t laugh). Meaning basically this: you read a poem about, say, bread; and it makes you want a slice of bread with a great dripping of the tongue. Now it can be of food, yes. But also of other…[Read more]
