I came here thinking you meant what Americans call soccer… I will try my very best not to start ranting about what a misnomer American Football is. π
But in any case, I root for the Chicago Bears (yes, I know they’re terrible, but whatever lol) and the Louisiana Saints. Both of them just because I have family that roots for them. π

Okay… Why did someone scream? Hmmm…
I know! And this helps with keeping the Wingfeathers in the Hollows! So, without further ado…
Itβs raining! Okay, yes I know itβs not the best reason ever, buuttt, if the storm is bad enough, it can keep the Wingfeathers in Hollows for several days and they could possibly stay with the Bronins until it…[Read more]

@crazywriter @arindown I’m glad my question has sparked some important thoughts. As for me, Christ-figures in alternate universes pose no problem. While we ought to do our best to present truth in our stories, most readers will read fantasy novels as fantasy novels, and not interpret them as literally making claims about other gods in other…[Read more]

@crazywriter You have some good points. I do see how it could be confusing to some people.
As for the Tash stuff…I was always confused by it too. I’m not sure what Lewis meant to do there, or if he meant anything at all.

@crazywriter I don’t think it’s “leaning toward Mormonism” to include a sacrificial god-figure in a world that is assumed to be completely separate from our own and completely its own entity. I can sort of see where you’re coming from with the Narnia example; I understand your concern, and it’s something I’ve wrestled with in another of my fantasy…[Read more]

Thanks for pointing out that we need to be cautious not to write another “god” into our stories. Although I think you have a point about not leaning toward Mormonism, I don’t think that you’re totally right that it’s better to only portray God through characters.
Aslan, in the Chronicles of Narnia, is very much a God figure. C.S.…[Read more]

Ouch. That sounds really bad. My brother’s are having the same issue.
CONGRATS!!!!!! What genre is it? And, btw, what is the editing process like?
-
@MischievousThwapling
My novella is Fantasy!!! The editing process is really satisfying and at the same time really depressing 🤣 I get to see all the awful writing mistakes Iβve made. Itβs definitely going to take longer then I thought. Overall though I feel about the same way I did when I was writing the first draft.
-
@inklingflame
Awesome!! I write fantasy, too. I love it. Huh, wow, that sounds like it would definitely give one mixed feelings! I’m looking forward to/dreading when it’s time to edit mine… XD

Ok, I’ve never written anything like this before, so let’s see how this goes…
The river was a wide swath of clear, shallow water rippling gently like silk in a breeze. At least, it had been clear. And itΒ had been shallow. And itΒ had rippled gently. Now it was a torrent of fast currents and liquid muddied from the rockslide. The cliffs all a…[Read more]

@jasmine I think that would be a good idea. I do hope that Denali comes back, but I think that we should invite someone else. Like you said, it’s not like one extra character will be a big deal.

Agreed, Peter.Β We must resurrect it before it falls into the dusty, abandoned forum cracks, whose black depths run so deep that once a beloved forum slips through, it is lost forever to its ravenous pits.
Sorry, mine is coming through as well.
Help guys!! We must rescue this story.
