@jilifish
I agree with you!
I agree with what Jilifish said. I would say that either a more tailored, tight-knit community would be optimal and awesome, but if that is too much then your thought of the more generic thing is good. I really would love to have a lot more guild interaction + tighter community that way, if that were…[Read more]

Hey everyone!
Sadly, I’m going on hiatus from SE for the rest of July. I’ve just started a new job which lasts for most of the month, and I start studying soon and I have serious edits I want to do on two books. So you won’t be hearing much of me (though I’ll still drop in on Erekdale’s hangouts) for a bit.
Hopefully once my schedule is back to…[Read more]

Okay guys. I know I’ve been pretty terrible about being around much, but it’s awesome that you’ve come up with some ideas! The beauty in a pencil is a cool concept.
Have we got any volunteers to write a draft? Because the story needs to be in by Sunday.

@selah-chelyah It honestly depends on what will work best for you! With self publishing, it’s a lot harder to get the word out, because you don’t have a big publishing company on your side, but it’s getting easier in these days of social media, etc. If you think self publishing is your jam, it’s definitely worth looking into!
@ashira Thanks! I…[Read more]

I have eight of the Elsie books and have never liked any of them ๐ As @rochellaine said, way too dramatic and ridiculous, as well as suffering from some unfortunate racial portrayals (as does pretty much any book from the time).

Selah replied to the topic For All The Historical Fictioners in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years ago
Yeah, I agree with you. There is not any 1900’s Christian fiction that I really like, let alone profit from, anymore. The Elsie books were fine for when I was younger, but they are very melodramatic and highly unrealistic to me now! It becomes obvious very fast that Martha Finley never got married and had a family of her…[Read more]

@ashira How long ago did you read them?
I really don’t remember anyone having a habit of screaming when angry except Joel, Van and Alexia, and only in their younger years.ย If anyone else screamed angrily, it must have been a very unusual occasion for them.ย Like I said before, Margaret Sidney used the word “scream” to also mean a kind of s…[Read more]

@ashira Haha, I adore the Pepper books. ๐
You’re right, though.ย They do seem to contain rather more screaming than necessary.ย But that’s mostly when the characters are very young, and it’s really only Joel and Van (when they’re about eight, so their young age is kind of an excuse) and Alexa (is that her name?)…who’s just pretty crazy in g…[Read more]
