Thanks! Good ideas, especially the head size! Looking back at the drawing it looks like I made the features big but not the head. This would probably help a lot!
Yeah, a tablet. Definitely made a big difference over using a mouse.

Lately I’ve been trying to get started with digital art using the free Krita program.
I’m trying to figure out how to do a cute “Chibi” style with bean-shaped bodies. Still don’t feel like I’m “there” yet, so critiques welcome+appreciated!

So, we’ve got a group NaNo-ing?
Me too, though not writing so much as editing “finished” books just sitting on the shelf.
DW says I have to finish some before I’m allowed to write any more. LOL 😀 -

Haha, believe it or not, it was on a permaculture site. Seemed too perfect not to share here, though.

Very interesting video short by small business guru Seth Godin.
In case you aren’t into videos the argument goes like this:
Writers’ block is when our mind says “I cannot write”. This is clearly a lie. What? Are your thumbs broken? No, when you dig down into it, what you are really saying is, “I…[Read more]

@rusted-knight Yeah, realistically, that sounds like something they would have.

Yeah, a lot of those existing fake woods don’t really work much better because the people are in deep space and wouldn’t have the wood scraps to start with. I really liked “bio-planking” though! Sounds like something lab-grown in a vat somewhere, which is totally the kind of thing I was going for.
Thanks for your help!

Okay, so I’m working on a sci-fi story set in deep space. At one point the main character is fascinated by an antique guitar that is “made of actual wood from an actual plant – imagine that!” and I really liked that.
The trouble was I had other things made of wood all around the story, which is a huge plot hole.
I was hung up on that for a…[Read more]

Kids and I were having fun with a silly idea on the way to youth group. I decided to photoshop it up.
(For those who follow my instagram, sorry for the repeat, but folks over there seemed to like it.)

That’s a good one @skylarynn . In fact, I just read this morning about Gideon in the book of Judges. After capturing the enemy king he’s trying to order this noobie soldier to execute the guy because he doesn’t want to. In this case the other guy is too scared and he has to do it himself.
Seems like the same kind of idea though – having ot…[Read more]

Okay, obviously this title is not an instruction manual, but a tongue-in-cheek thing.
I’ll explain.
The idea is: when we go off and do this stuff we always think we’re being so sneaky and clever, but in reality, our excuses are nothing new at all. Like in our mind we think we’re getting away with something, when our rationalizations are…[Read more] -

Cool, I hope it sparked some new ideas.
Yeah, that movie had some fantastic visuals. I’d recommend it.
What’s it like in the mountains?
The climate is very dry year round. The major cities are pretty similar to any other I suppose, but if you’re crazy enough to live up in the mountains, it’s an experience. Here’s a pic I took just this mor…[Read more]

Have you seen upside-down?
Trailer:
Pretty interesting movie. They solve the gravity problem — twice. Of course, by “solve” I mean in sci-fi plot terms. I guess from a writing perspective it’s a lot like a magic system in fantasy – as long as you establish clear rules for what it can do and its li…[Read more]

I have a couple more questions if you guys don’t mind.
1) AYK, I’m writing a sci-fi this time and there are a lot of buttons. How do you feel is the best way to write button labels? I’m trying to decide between the following:- Normal quotes (probably technically correct, but seems like it can get confused with dialog) –

Quick question:
Any thoughts on how to creatively describe music? I want the MC to have a guitar and be able to describe how beautiful and amazing her playing is — like make the reader completely geeking out over how cool she plays…
Any ideas/examples on where to start with this? - Load More
