Rusted Knight

  • Isaac saw it now. It was a golem dragon. A real DRAGON. A steel monster that was a good twelve feet or so high and thirty six long. It had spiked armor with a long snout and claws. If the armors were infantry this had to be a tank. A heavy clunker that would be slow but strong.

Then it jumped. Its speed was far greater than it should or could be.…[Read more]

  • I’m gonna make the dragon. Its a European dragon (legs, arms, wings and tail). Its body is steel with a high regenerative ability. At about the size of a fellbeast from the Lord of the Rings films, it should be able to chase any of our guys in the tunnels.

  • Lunging forward, an armor attacked Isaac. Any other time, he might not have noticed it. His night suit however showed a clear, pale outline. Too easy. The grenade blew it apart. No blood. Some kind of drone weapon. Isaac had no reason now to hold back.

Opening the hot barrel, he slid a second round in. Shoot and scoot. Slipping into the shadows,…[Read more]

  • Isaac stopped in the entrance. There were bones. Passing Teagan off to Lytt, he knelt and observed the skeleton. Mostly intact, no missing bones. Not an animal kill. However there was a nice gouge in several ribs. Too big to be a usual blade. Looking at the wall, Isaac saw the dried blood. There was dust over it. The fight had been quite a while…[Read more]

  • I say the room is an armory for the gladiators only it is not limited to any one age. Then the dragon golem is in the back with a couple armor automata. Anyone that tries to take a weapon activates the armors and dragon.

  • @kimlikesart

How likely is Teagan to start a spouting philosophy when doped up on painkillers? (like he is now.) Or is he just gonna pass out and scare everyone.

  • Isaac was climbing when he heard it. A sickening thud. Looking down, he saw Teagan and Lytt on the ground. No blood. Lytt must have broken the fall a bit. Even so they had be be hurt. Reversing his course, Isaac crawled back down.

How stupid of himself. He should have known better. He was no longer a normal human. Pushing his body to the limit on…[Read more]

  • Allen stood up. Now that he had seen his fear, Allen knew that this castle was not on his side. What had begun as a great adventure had evolved into a real pain. Whelp. The only thing he knew he could do was finish whatever he had been called to do. It was the only reason he saw to being here.

The raptor claws were still here. Good. They could…[Read more]

The black thing you talk of is merely artistic license. In my story, Gridley is the “old man”, the veteran of the squad. His family and girlfriend’s family were nomadic fighters, local legends and heroes. They died in an ambush with Gridley being the sole survivor. After that, Gridley threw away all emotion, recovered from his…[Read more]

  • Allen saw Calixta. She was arguing with Ahab the giant. What use was that? Everyone was in the same situation, they could at least try to get along. Then the world turned upside down. No good to try to stop it. Clutching the claws, Allen let himself fall. The knives would have to wait a bit.

It was dark. Allen looked around. Immediately he was…[Read more]

  • Allen looked over the raptor. Then the pain hit him.

    “Ow ow ow! Searing pain!”

What did the humans say? Don’t play with electricity. Yeah. He DEFINITELY broke that one. He should start listening to warnings like that. Once the pain began to subside, Allen flew up to the raptor’s neck. His sword was still stuck in the vertebra. Drawing the blade…[Read more]

Well, what sort of golem dragon should we make? Golems I’m familiar with are either the gargoyle, rock monster types or metal automata types. Has anyone seen other forms that could be more interesting?

  • Rusted Knight replied to the topic Character Castle in the forum Fantasy Writers 1 month ago

    @kimlikesart

Well Teagan is still here for now so, how good is he at climbing cliffs without any kind of safeties?

  • Isaac looked at the new floor. Once more, the castle was trying to kill them. The others were ok. He could hear the conversation between them and Lytt. Teagan flopped on the ground.

“I don’t think this castle really likes us.”

Isaac nodded in agreement. The walls now lacked any path. Most of it now was ledges. Blasting through the floor would…[Read more]

  • Well Hurricane Sally is just about to hit us so I might not be able to post for a bit. If I can catch a hole, I’ll drop in.

  • @jasmine

Well, everyone is in a very large greenhouse after being teleported there by a trap book. There are raptors prowling around and everyone just survived a battle with one. Everything else is being developed on the fly so there is plenty of room for other species of animals to be introduced or characters dropped in.

  • @kimlikesart

You could go with both. If no one actually sees Teagan vanish but they do see him about to die before their field of vision is blocked, it would not be a stretch to declare him dead.

  • Racing past, the raptor fled down an animal trail.

“Shoot him. Shoot him.” yelled Allen.

Allen feared the beast. Now that it was injured, it would be far more aggressive. If it regrouped with any from it’s pack, without a question, they would be overrun with raptors. There would be no way that these humans could escape without losing…[Read more]

  • Allen heard the crash of branches. There was something there. Peering out from behind a leaf, he saw it. A velociraptor. A killer idolized in Hollywood as the best when it came to hunting humans. Allen had no intention to test that in the real life. This one looked hungry and he might be a good mouth full for one.

“Hey, it’s Ax Girl! Are you ok?…[Read more]

  • Hm. Perhaps we should introduce a wandering, boss class monster. I suggest a golem dragon with regenerative abilities. This beast would be impossible to destroy and would plague the characters by appearing here and there.
