@sarahfi, I don’t think it would have ever occurred to me to describe resignation as heavy, but I like it. It made me think.

You know, this “big story” you’re planning may be the best thing you’ve ever come up with so far, but if you don’t get it out of your head and onto paper (or into a computer file) your brain won’t have room to come up with something even bigger and better.

Me too, @arindown. But I’m curious…is your first line actually a fragment, or are you just including the first part of your first sentence?

Good question, @mischievous-thwapling! I do still have one or two books to give away. I’ve been sending them as downloadable files, either PDF, epub or mobi (for Kindle or Kindle App.) So yes, unfortunately, you would have to download something in order to read the book. But the files are not huge, and they are clean.

I find myself using the Persian word “kaj” (crooked or off-balance) all the time, because kaj just sounds so much more kaj, you know.

And there’s janjal, to describe an annoying, chaotic, bothersome, and probably noisy situation. Perfect.

I’ve always liked the word “Ellucidate.” It means to clarify something that’s confusing, literally, to shed light on it.

However, I don’t think I’ve used this word in writing, only in speech, since I tend to write with a fairly limited vocabulary and speak with an extremely wide one.

Now that, @law0413, is the opening line of a story I want to read!

LOL, @lonathecat! I feel you about autocorrect and unusual words/names. I have the same problem, but what really gets me is when I’m proofreading along thinking, “All right, that’s just a name, that’s just a name…” and then later on, boom! I realize a misspelled word snuck in along with them.

If you intend your blog to be connected with your author/book website, I think the subject matter should at least loosely connect with your writing. For example, if you write classic fantasy, a blog post about real-world Medieval weapons would not be amiss.
