I am curious, for all my fellow Mystery/Suspense/Thriller Writers out there, how do you begin your stories of this type? Are you willing to share some of your personal examples of your opening lines from a WIP that you use to grab a reader’s attention?
Here are a few that I have used in some stories:
1. Lost, alone, cold, wet, tired and no one…[Read more]

I think @zee and @arindown made good points here. I read this thread a long time ago, and been trying to figure out how to help. Okay, here I go~
- I don’t know what country you’re from or your age, but do you happen to be a minor when it comes to crimes of a sexual locus (i.e., rape, assault, etc.)? If so, then in my opinion, it may be…

@MelancholicWriter @Zee @Erynne @Arindown
I’m sorry this is so late, but thank you so much for all of your recommendations and non-recommendations! XD Erynne, I have The Witch of Blackbird Pond on my reading list. It’s wonderful to know it contains no witchcraft. XD Some of my other friends like it as well! MelancholicWriter, I’ve just finished…[Read more]

ya I think I didn’t explain it well…and I might change it. but the driving force is their relationship and they are dating for most of the book (in my mind right now). but at least right now it is romance them growing close…idk this is my first book that i’m going to complete…

No problem! I hope it gives you a good idea of what he’s supposed to look like. If you need something further than that I have a reference picture of who I want him to look like if you’d like to see that. (Then you’d see just how bad I am at drawing from a reference picture though XD) I have pictures of him in pretty much any position. If…[Read more]

Ok great! Yeah, all of my characters are that style. I love the way the cartoon style looks! And it’s so fun to mess around with because there’s some stuff you can do with it that you can’t with realistic (like the large, pretty eyes)
So here’s the sketch, I hope you’re able to see it. Sorry about the weird lighting. Have fun with Hudson!

@zee, thank you! She looks great! I love the detail on her dress😍
If you do King Hudson, would it be alright if I send you a sketch I did of him?

You great someone by kissing, but not actually kissing–just touching cheeks and making a kissing sound…
Oh, the Dutch do that too! But it’s kind of a regional thing, mostly in the west and the south. It’s usually three kisses, right, left, right. Also, you don’t do it if you just meet someone, you have to know them pretty well before you do…[Read more]

Idk if you would or not, but if you’re wanting an exchange, I’d totally be up for that! I can sketch it or do it digitally, and I can do cartoon or semi-realistic. Just let me know! 🙂

@zee,
*annoyed sigh* RIGHT?! It’s so hard to find people like that online. Which is why I like silhouettes. 🙂 And she agreed to be my illustrator, but she’s getting so bogged down and stuff I’m thinking of telling her she doesn’t have to illustrate for me. She’s the kind of person…[Read more]

Hey, @zee! No problem it’s given me some time to get some descriptions together.
So I’m struggling to draw my queen and king and I seem to be more satisfied with other people’s drawings rather than my own. I’ll give you the description for both, but you don’t have to do both you can just choose which one you like better.
So Queen Emery-

Ooh! I like your options for Princlandia! I’m definitely using one of them.
As for cultural inspiration, there are actually 3. Princelandia is largely drawing inspiration from Western Europe, particularly England, and more medieval in nature. A lot more normal-fantasy. The Freelands are…[Read more]

@joelle-stone I love yours! Are you going to explain more of your story, or just leave us gushing over the pictures?😉
@zee I really like the idea for your story! I like plots that deal with life after marriage, and it sounds really interesting.

Hey all! I finally got up the courage to ask my mom if she’d let me start a blog, and she said she didn’t have a problem with it. And then she asked me to do more research before she made a final decision. So! That brings us to my researching/asking questions.
Here are the questions:
- What are some good hosts to check into?
- Is it better to…

@zee,
Sounds cool!! There aren’t very many romance novels out there that deal with what it’s like to be married instead of HOW you attract someone and get married with your happily-ever-after. 🙂
And cool pic! YES I HAVE THAT PROBLEM! I gave up looking a long time ago, so my illustrator draws for me now. 🙂
