@anne_the_noob14 That’s fantastic! I have the sheet music for the Lord Of The Rings song, Concerning Hobbits, but my piano instructor moved away (she was my sister and she went to college haha) and so it pretty much fell to the wayside because of lack of time. đ
Now I do debate, I guess. đ

I agree with @taylorclogston mostly. Your second version screams “Tolkien ripp-off” with lines such as: “dark lord escaping,” and “it corrupts heroes.”
Also, “God may have abandoned them” sounds a little cheesy. I think you could come up with a much more poetic way to say that.
What if instead of: “but warns God may have abandoned…[Read more]

I’ve been workshopping my synopsis with a dedicated Facebook group and making some improvements. Below is what I gave them, with some small tweaks based on the feedback I got. The second synopsis is a complete retake based on the feedback I got. I’d love your opinion.

@anne_the_noob14 Oh dear. This is true. But then I always have just worn flats. Heels are nice and make me normal sized (ha) but first dance I didn’t even hesitate. I already knew I would regret it if I tried to wear heals.
Wonderful picks for piano pieces! I hope that goes well and I hope you figure out how to get out of that ditch. I’ve never…[Read more]

It was a 1AM thought, but I think I meant it more in the area that… our moral/political/ethical beliefs are often a part of class separation, more often than not. They might not really define it, but they’re a part of what make us one or the other beyond just monetary/social status. Part of being blue collar or being a “rich old…[Read more]

@taylorclogston Oh wow XD I’m praying!
What I read: Um… *tries to think* Honestly not much. This week has been pretty much trying to get back into the swing of schoolwork.
What I wrote: I dug myself into a ditch in this current WIP so I’m working on some extensive plotting to get out. *nods* Also I started a flash fiction piece.
What I…[Read more]

@taylorclogston Yikes, sounds like a mess. I’ll be praying.
@silverclaw-bonnetfolly Heh heh. Time management. What is that? đ
What I read – I read Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card (amazing, though barely not quite the same level as Ender’s Game) and now I’m reading through Immortality by Milan Kundera.
What I wrote – Literally nothing. I…[Read more]

That sounds like quite a week @taylorclogston
What I listened to – Screwtape Letters by Clive Staples Lewis. It was really good, a lot shorter than I thought it would be.
What I wrote – I wrote some of a short story I was working on last semester for school. The outline I had wasn’t expanded enough and so when I needed to add more pages I…[Read more]

So I posted the blurb on Realm Makers. Verdict was it didn’t have a clear enough plot! (People also wanted a little stronger sense of the world it was set in.)
I’ve buckled down and tried a rewrite. What do you think?

I was actually putting my stock in that last one. 😏
Let me make sure it wasnât just poor wording because I feel like the concept is on target. Do any of you like â heroes are born to dream, but some dreams come to haunt themâ ?

Hey guys, what do you think of this tagline for my epic fantasy novel?
Not all heroes are who they try to be
Is it epic? Inspire your curiosity?
What are your thoughts/suggestions?

Okay! I think in general we agree, but maybe we’re looking for a different angle on it with a slightly different answer. And I’ll clarify that when I refer to the tools of language, the objective side of…[Read more]

And I think that when talking about voice, even if the definition is “our depth of heart coming through the language” in a particular way, we still need to talk about why the language makes voice itself. If the mechanics applied are how we understand and use voice, I think that we can explain voice by way of the tools of language…[Read more]

My bad. Yes. I use ellipses in texting all the time, to indicate a pause in speech or more like parentheses. It relates to my trains of thoughts and how they lay out on the page as I think them. I don’t know when I started doing it, but it’s always been a comfortable way of typing for me. I’ll work to keep them out. Sorry.

Yeah! So, I mentioned a few things about the definition of voice in that it’s the objective tools subjectively applied. Now, you’re right… it might seem a bit off topic, and for that I apologize. ‘Tis not my goal. I merely enjoy working with direct application when dealing with concepts like this… because it tends to help me…[Read more]

@deeprunI wonder if we might think of this in the context of actually coaching someone… what would we tell them? As in, we’re there to help them… not just give advice from the side (that’s often a good and necessary thing, but I’d like to look at it from a different perspective, if only…[Read more]

He swore he could be the hero his world needed. Too deep into his quest to turn back, Exton’s faced with the lie of that hope.
