I’d also like to see pictures of everyone’s favorite villain.

From my research and schooling, I’ve always been taught that they are ratios and relations within art and aesthetics that our brains are preprogrammed to respond to as “beautiful”. Golden ratio, Fibonacci series and all that. What’s fascinating is how we can learn to love and find something beautiful that doesn’t align with that. And on the co…[Read more]

HALLELUJAH!
Another arrow in the quiver to help slay guilt and forward quality writing. Thank you. It was timely indeed and I appreciated the amount of research to undergird this assertion. A holistic approach to improving the writing craft; the physical, mental, and spiritual. Looking forward to implementing this.

DeepRun replied to the topic Am I good enough for character commissions? in the forum Art Discussions 1 year, 4 months ago
After looking through your examples, I would say there’s nothing that should keep you from starting to do character commissions. You already have a bold style and easily recognizable color scheme.
What I would recommend is sitting down and coming up with a basic plan and guidelines for yourself. What do you want to draw? W…[Read more]

What kind of pad and what kind of program is he looking to use? A lot of things, in my experience, translate across all programs but it’s helpful to know the actual tools involved. I.e., most tutorials I’ve found or the books I’ve seen are geared for people using Adobe Photoshop.
I went the weird route and got Corel Painter so when I w…[Read more]

DeepRun replied to the topic How to Structure a Scene in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year, 7 months ago
Ooohhhhh wow…. Thanks for sharing this! Looking forward to trying to implement it!
I might have seen it at some point but in a flurry of bullheadedness, disregarded it as overly formulaic. Yet… Structure doesn’t mean restriction. A good framework provides the opportunity for creativity. If the bones are good, the next layer is al…[Read more]

Did you hear my knuckles crack as I flexed my fingers before typing? Couldn’t wait for a more digestible answer! Really enjoyed your response and please do not apologize for “rants”. It reads to me as you figuring out why you do what you do. That’s important. Very important. Especially at a place like SE where ther…[Read more]

Hah, I did ask because I was genuinely curious! And would be happy to hear a longer answer. I feel much the same way. Especially seeing things like Captain Underpants … I’d love to see stories with a strong pictorial bent that had more substance.

Pardon, I’ve been stalking. What stories are you passionate about? That you can’t find in the comics section?

I left a ridiculously long post for last week’s question, so shall restrain myself.
1. I’d say that, surprisingly, it’s good to trust your intuition. As a writer. What @literatureforthelight said above sparked that thought. Saying that you used fluffy or cliche phrases, indicates that you knew they were just that: sappy. While bearing in…[Read more]

Approaching developing a group with the a good mindset helps. It’s about giving and receiving. Coming at this from the perspective of small group development, it also helps to bear in mind that there are a few factors that help a group form and stay together.
1. Have a defined and shared purpose. A clear goal gets you somewhere. Wa…[Read more]

It’s indeed been a while since haunting SE. Art and seasonal commitments devoured me for a while. How goes writing for you? Did you enter the Short Story Contest?
I appreciate the thoughtful pushback but decided to not derail the good thread of thought with a rabbit trail. And… I think I would have whole heartedly agreed…[Read more]

Well, the Lord has seen it fit to let me enjoy writing again. Hopefully I have a few more years in me before the next absence. I tried a few stories for the contest, but they all ended up being outpourings of my frustration with people and not necessarily stories of God’s amazing power of salvation. So I wrote one story that I think is very good,…[Read more]

@zee It is indeed for highly fiber filled food for thought. I’ve not read the Four Loves in a while and in light of this, will begin the hunt this afternoon. Especially before any more commentary.

Maybe too it comes from an assumption that intimacy always begets a romantic love. And only a romantic love. While that can be a facet of intimate connections, it shouldn’t be the pinnacle. I have to concur with @taylorclogston as even writing this, I have to sort through the immediate connotations th…[Read more] -

Chipotle ranch, thank you very much. Regular ranch is subpar in my opinion (if you can turn the fundamental taste into a powder to be rehydrated at will, into sauce… I question the whole legtimacy of that situation).
Alrighty, so Saturday mornings, word count posted!!
