@morreafirebirdΒ @sleepwalkingmkΒ @supermonkey42
Okay, so do you guys think the sun as a character or someone else looking at the sun will work better?
I couldn’t think of a good human character to be watching the sunrise, so I was imagining it as the sun, but if you come up with something, let’s go with that.
Just reply with what you think and w…[Read more]

@lady-iliara XD XD 😂😂 “Oh, mom, it was just… umm… soap poisoning. I got over it”
@hope-ann On a more semi-serious note, you know you’re a writer when you sometimes try to escape into fantasy worlds to flee the pain of this world… when something’s going wrong, and suddenly you are floating above the clouds flying on dragonback, mixing…[Read more]

@sarah-inkdragon WOW. WOW. He is rolling around right now acting out for me all the antics he says you must be able to pull off if that’s the case.
π π Okay. Pretty much same here. Fantasy is not fantasy for me, its a reality just beyond the horizon…
PS
I don’t think that feature is on Story Embers, because I couldn’t find it either. You…[Read more]

@sarah-inkdragon Ne’er mind. You do. I don’t particularly like Susan in Narnia either (Lucy’s my favorite) but movie Frodo is very dear to me. I mean, sometimes his sad face and voice is a little annoying. But you gotta look past people’s faults, you know… π

@sarah-inkdragon π Hey, a dragon. I have a pet runt dragon named Stan… he’s wondering how long you can breathe fire and what your wingflap per minute rate is…?
π Welcome to Story Embers! You seem as though you like fantasy. Is that the case?

Sam Kowal replied to the topic My character is blind. Is my story doomed? in the forum Characters 8 years, 2 months ago
@morreafirebird I actually had a friend who wrote a story with a blind MC, although this was a character who had been blind for years.
At that point, the character’s other senses had all dramatically increased. The character could hear the shuffling scrape of a stubby broom over rough brick, smell the scent of sweat mixed with leather on one…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic My character is blind. Is my story doomed? in the forum Characters 8 years, 2 months ago
@morreafirebird Nope. I’m not entirely sure about first person, but someone was recently telling me about a book in the Song of Albion where the POV character was blind for the most part, and how it was really interesting to get the story through other senses.
Definitely, you’re chopping off a major avenue to describe senses and description, but…[Read more]

@gabriellepollack ohh. This sounds pretty neat. I’ve made a Google DocΒ hereΒ that some Avensers might find it helpful to work on, so feel free to use it, guys.
My idea is that we write it from the sun’s point of view, how every morning it (or we could have it he or she) has to drag itself around the horizon (not science accurate, I know) and s…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Why is Emotion Important? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years, 2 months ago
@gabriellepollack Emotion is important because it stitches life and authenticity into the characters of a story- obviously, if characters had no emotions they wouldn’t be particularly interesting. Also, emotions what helps us connect to characters and make them relatable. When we identify or connect with an emotion, it helps us see truth in the…[Read more]

@sarah-narnathron Right,Β Inheritance was energy based magic… for some reason the singing helped shape the energy into something more beautiful, I guess.
π That magic system honestly sounds really cool. Everything having a song, but then things having greater songs… do individual people have songs? Also, does the MC have to be good at music…[Read more]

@sleepwalkingmk XD XD I can only imagine. I have never succeeded in melting while fanboying over something, although honestly, it sounds pretty epic. If you do it during a test it would be a great way to get out of that stress.

@sarah-narnathron There’s some music magic/power in Echoes from the Edge by Bryan Davis, I think? And also the the elves inΒ Inheritance can sing things into existence, although that’s somewhat taken from Tolkien. Have you ever readΒ Seraphina by Rachel Hartman? Music isn’t magic in that but it a key theme.

@dekreel Well, first off, creating things for other people can be amazing and make some of their moments a lot brighter. That being said, it isΒ important to also have your own identity and create your own things.

@sarah-narnathron π Welcome to Story Embers. Those WIPs sound pretty much completely epic πΒ Fight Song especially seems like a cool idea. It’s not often you seeΒ music based magic in fantasy.
Have you read Stormlight? Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, too. I love how his worlds and characters collide together so harshly

@theinvizibleman Hello, Jonathan, great to have you here. Are you currently working on any writing projects?
Yeah, I sort of know what you mean. I can come up with a rough idea for something pretty good fairly fast, but often miserably fail on executing that.
XD I quite love your signature, by the way π

@sleepwalkingmk Hi, Adora. π Well, the good thing is, you can continue your hobby in your sleep then. I, for example, can’t write in my sleep. What’s your portal fantasy about ? π
Mmm. Yeah, that sounds like a long explanation. Does that mean you read often, if you sometimes change state while doing it?
