I think (hope?) that I write woman realistically, being one myself. I think there have only been a couple of times where I thought “A woman didn’t write this female character”.
The Bendel Test is a bit of a tricky question, because I’ve been writing a lot of short stories lately, and since there isn’t a lot of room for a lot of…[Read more]

@karthmin yeah, it was pretty neat! Β It was really useful to see his face (which looked very much like my character, of course) move and make different expressions. Β Better than just looking up photos on Pinterest, which is what I usually do.

TOLKIEN AND LORD OF THE RINGS YAAASSSS!!!!!
I once heard that Eowyn’s arc was about war. Tolkien fought in WWII and that generation was a realization that war wasn’t the glorified stories they had all been told.
From what I can remember from my mix of reading the books forever ago and seeing the movies, at the beginning of her arc she…[Read more]

@tashah-claymore I’ve actually never experienced encountering one of my characters in real life. π That must have been fun. XD

Love all of these quotes so much, @princess-foo! These are all definitely in my top favorite LotR quotes.
Speaking of which, I wrote a thing about Lord of the Rings (and C. S Lewis) the other day. Seems like an appropriate place to share it, even though it’s basically an essay. XD

Hello everyone!
Let’s all welcome @bree-dawn to! She is our FINAL ADDITION to Erekdale! That’s right, this guild has ceased expanding and we’re now on cruise control, so to speak.
Anyway, let’s give Bree a warm welcome today, and get her accustomed to our craziness. π

@mariposa “Chief Shortbeard sat regally on his exercise ball…” may be one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. I can literally picture it perfectly. This is awesome, my friend.
Who’s the dark haired girl with the dagger?
@karthmin It’s the baker in her that typed ‘Shortbread’. Honestly, I was reading it as ‘shortbread’ anyways. π

I really enjoy analyzing stories so I hope we either keep this subform or create such conversations elsewhere.
