@j-a-penrose HAHA I actually have no idea what sub genre of fantasy I write. I don’t even know what half of them mean. Is there a list somewhere that explains what elements are in each? What type do you write?
Honestly, I don’t know what the significance of the sunrise either, but you’ve planted the idea so now I’ll have to come up with…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose *is honored* Awesome! I know for sure I’ll have a good amount of writing time tomorrow, so I’ll get to work on tweaking it and looking at everyone’s suggestions.
Am I allowed to tag the whole guild?

@j-a-penrose Ah, yes, I see how I didn’t make it so much about the death. I’ll rework it a bit and let you know when it’s ready…
@martina Thanks! I like yours too, though second-person is not my favorite. But that’s just my personal preference. ๐

@j-a-penrose I added something to the doc also. And I like your story, @jenwriter17 ! It’s an interesting situation and very realistic characters.
I’m not really sure what I was thinking with my choice in POV and tense… y’all will have to read it. ๐

@j-a-penrose Well, now the doc isn’t so empty ๐ not sure if it’s any good though…

@j-a-penrose Oh, thanks for the reminder! to be honest, things have been so crazy that I’d forgotten about the war! O.O
So like I said, I don’t think I’m the right person to do this( the writing part) , but I’ll be here to critique, etc. @aislinn-mollisong was it you that wrote a piece along with me and Audrey that one war?

@j-a-penrose and everyone,
I have blindly scribbled a first draft in the dark. ๐ What do you all think? How can we make it 100 times better?
-
Steward of the Pen replied to the topic Guild War 1 in the forum Announcements 8 years ago
@j-a-penrose, thanks for the suggestions!
So…should I start? How much should I do? Do I just go to the Google Doc and start typing?

Steward of the Pen replied to the topic Guild War 1 in the forum Announcements 8 years ago
Typically I prefer 3rd person, but in this case 1st might work well, especially if it’s a collective writing project. That way we’ll be writing using the character’s voice rather than our own, so it would be more consistent. We could also do a limited 3rd person just from the older brother’s POV.
@j-a-penrose How should we incorporate the back…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose Welcome back!!! I’m glad to hear you’re doing better!
@everyone – Aww…it means a lot that you guys think my ideas are good. ๐ If everyone does want to use my first idea, then now we have to decide on the POV. 1st is more personal, so that may make it more emotional, especially if we do it from the protective older brother’s…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose YAY! So glad to see you back! ๐
AND WE WILL NOT LOSE!
I think the popular vote isย @ariella-newheart‘s first idea. What about something like this?
- Character 1 (younger brother) and Character 2 (older brother) are living in hiding after the rest of their family has been captured by the enemy.
- Then Character 1 disappears and…

Guess what, everybody? Me and my assistant, Aberdeen the Authorosaurus (you know, that green scaly theropod who wrote ROTLA) have been working on a top-secret project that will change the world (my world at least 😜).
No, itโs not a time machine.
Or a book that writes itself.

@j-a-penrose @evelyn We could do it so those from the Steampunk part have the mechanical dragons, and then the color of the others’ dragons depends on where they’re from and their occupation. So those from the forest would get green ones, those who live on the coast blue ones, etc. And then within those districts, the shade of the color is…[Read more]
