Just popping in to ask how all our guildmasters are doing! How’s life? Anything interesting going on? The guilds seem to be dying lol. Which is totally understandable if y’all’s lives are even half as busy as mine right now XD
Hey SE people!
We’ve launched a cool new feature on the forum called groups.
You can find them in the nav bar like so:
Groups are hubs for writers to gather around something they share in common. They include a Facebook-like feed and most of them also include their own forums.
So far there are three types of groups:
1. Word war…[Read more]
I would be happy to help out some, but I am kind of busy, so my help would be sporadic. I do love the idea of bringing back short story wars.
Another thing that I recently started with some friends of mine that I think would be cool is a progressive story. Basically somebody starts off a story, and then other people help to continue…[Read more]
Hey all! I figured I should give a writing update…
I’m currently doing something I hardly ever do on paper or computer… PLOTTING AHEAD??? *gasps*
I usually just play by ear the whole way. Plotting never seems to help me. But I had so many ideas over the weeks I didn’t write, and I HAVE to organize them and sort through them all and decide…[Read more]
Happy new year! 😀
I’m back on SE now since I’m home!… What’s the verdict (if there is any yet) on everything? Anything coming up this month or next?
(Posted this here since it kinda made sense to)
Hey guys!! Mama is doing great, she got her drainage tubes and staples removed, and we’re back home! She’s scheduled to go back for a checkup in six months. So unless you hear from me otherwise, just assume she’s doing fine! Thank you (and everybody else) for all the prayers and…[Read more]
Mama’s doing very well! She got released from the hospital today, and she and Daddy have a hotel room through the 31st. She’s on oral pain meds now, and having to adjust to those, but she’s doing well with them. My brother and I got to go see her last week, and she had just got her ng…[Read more]
@steward-of-the-pen Thank you so much! She’s doing good. The doctor said her surgery went well. She had to have another surgery the next day, though, to drain 200 cc of blood from between her abdominal walls. They had had to take off something like 150 tiny spots from her small intestine that didn’t show up on the CT scan, and one of those places…[Read more]
*nods* Yeah. (and SAME on the blog posts oh my gosh XD)
You’re very welcome!! I’m glad to be of at least some assistance at the moment lol. After being inactive for a week XD
@evelyn Omw same XD I think I’ve been a member since…2018 at least and it’s crazy to think I’ve been here for so long.
@j-a-penrose I was wondering, do you think it would be better if we only did the competitions every other month or every few months? To be honest, it was kind of a lot for me when we were doing guild wars every month, and it would be even more work to be doing them individually. I think if we do them less often, there’ll be more participation.…[Read more]
Cassie Hartfinh started the topic To propose or not to propose, but HOW is the question… in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year, 10 months ago
Hello Story Embers leaders, wherever you are! *waves and offers virtual pizza*
I have a question.
So I finished my first fantasy novel. The first of four, hopefully. Up till now, I’ve been self-publishing my novels because editors scare me and so do contracts. Well, they did, at any rate. Turns out, self-publishing also means I have to advertise…[Read more]
@j-a-penrose Cool ideas! I’d be up for it, thought I might not be able to make each month, I need practice with short stories.
I would love to do short story wars, yes!! Some of us (I think it’s a general populous thing, not just Parimis) are doing flash fiction wars over on a thread somewhere. But I wouldn’t mind short stories at all!! I think individual would be best. Mainly because I don’t know if we have enough active peeps to do groups. We might could…[Read more]
@j-a-penrose Monthly competitions would be fun! I’d be happy doing them either in a group or individually. I’ve always learned a lot doing them in groups, but I could also definitely use more experience writing short stories on my own. Maybe we could do a mixture of both?
Also, a random thought, what if one of us acted as judge from time to time?…[Read more]
@j-a-penrose I’d be interested in short story things every month! I’d prefer solo entries to working in groups.
I’d also be happy to see lessons return, and would be interested in the opportunity to write one.
What sort of responsibilities are you looking to distribute?
Participation was unfortunately low this time. But there were some great wordcounts.
Here’s the final rundown:
New Wessex: 3,036
Parami Alca: 2,240
And the individual with the highest word count was @hope-ann with 8,379
@j-a-penrose Heya! Just checking in cause I haven’t seen you around the forums in a while! Hope you’re doing great! :3
@j-a-penrose Heyo! Just as a head’s up… I will probably need to be offline next week (starting the 16th), because that’s when my mom is having her surgery. So I’ll be here and there between my house and Houston, which is a three-hour drive for us. I’ll try to keep everybody updated, so I’ll probably hop on a couple times. But I won’t be very…[Read more]
It’s been pretty quiet around here for a while, aside from our character castle, so I thought it’d be great to catch up with everyone and share what we’re working on.
Right now my main project is writing the first draft of my novel, Dahop’s Ember. I’m at a little over 25,000 words, and (I think) I’m just past the first plot point.…[Read more]
