Okay, guys. Here’s the names I came up with:
Pravus-Hasan
Salus-Sharun
I just looked up the Latin and Arabic words for good and evil, and combined them.
Thank you everyone for your ideas. I’m not entirely satisfied with it, so I might come be back in the future. Maybe. I don’t know.
Thanks again! @bama-rose @literatureforthelight @daeus-lamb…[Read more]

@ethryndal Congratulations! So far you’re the only nano winner on here. (At least that I’ve seen. I might have missed one.)
Totally unrelated: how are some of you members of multiple guilds?

Hey guys,
After our long break, we get to do a prompt war again!
If you’ve followed the topic about charm in stories, you probably noticed I’m fascinated with dream sequences. So I decided to make that the theme of our prompt. 😉
Starting today and lasting for two weeks, we have the assignment to write the very best dream sequence we can. (In…[Read more]

YAY for @ethryndal day! 😀 I’m glad you went first.
Of course, you’ve left some pretty large shoes to fill next month…
So did you survive NaNoWriMo?

Hey guys! Sorry, I’ve been traveling and pretty much without internet. This is a perfectly fine place to place your word counts. I’ll be calculating the winner as soon as I’m able.

@ethryndal I enjoyed Sley’s POV! The tavern scene was engaging and showed the strength of the world you’ve built.
One thing that occurred to me was that the transition from Sley’s scolding his men to helping out the beggar child (at the beginning of the chapter) seemed a little odd, but I can see how you want to show how he’s not that bad. It…[Read more]

WOW!! I love your excerpt! It makes me really curious about Sley and who he is. Plus, your description was amazing…I noticed right away because I struggle with that so much. And I really liked the names of characters…unique and realistic and descriptive and I could actually pronounce them!😛
Great job!! 👍👍 (sorry, I don’t have any…[Read more]

@ethryndal For Liriel, I might add some faltering thoughts that seep into her subconscious, like what @literatureforthelight said. And then, have her push those thoughts away and force herself not to dwell on things like that. But as her character arc goes on, have the changes be more dramatic, perhaps. Maybe have her doubt her little more, or…[Read more]

@ethryndal I think that for the character arc, you can show subconscious change and tentative steps in the right direction, even Liriel won’t want to admit that she’s doing it. Or maybe she can reject her worldview in her actions, while still insisting to herself that she hasn’t changed. (I’ve never written a novel-length character arc, so that’s…[Read more]

I’m gonna start a critique thread for my work. I don’t know that it’s gonna be super active ’cause I tend to not share my work very often (except with my best friend), but I have a scene I tried to write earlier today that just didn’t come out right and I want help fixing it. In my head this scene was full of emotion and tension, but I put it on…[Read more]

@ethryndal The chapter looks good to me (other than a couple grammatical things I pointed out on the doc)! Your description is really good, and now I’m curious about Sley’s background. 🙂

Daeus Lamb replied to the topic Ethryndal Day in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 7 months ago
@ethryndal 😛 That works.
A stiff-necked characer, huh? Honestly, that’s a tricky question. The only thing I can think of is to have your character know she’s lost the spiritural battle. So, outwardly she could remain pretty much the same, but inwardly she dreads that she can’t hide from the truth. She could act just a little more broken. My two…[Read more]

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on illustrating a book for a few months and I’ve come to realize that I really need accountability. I’ve gotten overwhelmed, procrastinated, and fallen behind on my goals too many times now. It’s sort of becoming a problem.
So, I have two out of twelve illustrations finished and am working on a sketch for the…[Read more]

Hey guys,
It’s me. Normally, each week we focus on our theme topic — which right now is worldbuilding.
Today though, we’re going to do something different. We’re going to try, the last week of every month, to focus on one of our guild members. I’ve decided to work down the list on our guild page, so today we have our snarky elf, @ethryndal.
How…[Read more]
