@the-fledgling-artist I love the vibes of these poems! <3ย Also I think you have natural feel for word choice…very very nice. ๐
In your future poems, think about experimenting with line-length and flow of the poem, being intentional about the pacing.
When you decide on a rhyme scheme, before you begin the poem, try writing out a bunch of…[Read more]

@libby I don’t write fiction actively, but I read a lot of writing/about writing so that helps my editing skills. I’d be happy to read your work. ๐

@sir-leeds I love your poem!
I do see what Story Ember meant now about the embellishments. You’re not flaunting a bunch of different poetry techniques in this poem (but you do use vivid language). Also, the poem’s character is a child, so there is power in the simplicity of the character’s voice. ๐
I love the ending lines:
“And the lonely lamp…[Read more]

@sir-leeds Would you post that poem about the children? I would love to read it! Also, I made an account with Submittable. ๐ I didn’t know Footprints in the Sand when I wrote my poem, but I see the similarity that…[Read more]

@anne_the_noob14 Thank you!!
@sir-leeds I appreciate your feedback! What I’m actually trying to convey is a process of healing over the course of a year. As the seasons go by (with similar themes in each), the girl becomes more and more reconciled. In that light, what changes to you think should happen? Maybe what’s happening in the last section…[Read more]

@evelyn Our local book/coffee shop has a magnet poetry board hanging on one of the doors inside. People put together lines of poetry from the little magnets and you can be inspired and make your own. It’s really cool.

@e_elaine_soup5 I love the song lyrics one. Sun-split clouds is a great image! The haikus were great too, especially the line “we light stuff on fire.” ๐

@w-o-holmes These are very personal opinionsโฆPLEASE take with a bucketload of salt and of course, do what you like!
โNor take that wherewith was not mine.โ (Wherewith seems a little out of place. I actually havenโt heard it used I modern poetry, so I may just be unaware of the meaning. Possibly find a synonym?)

@w-o-holmes Cool! ๐
Coming back fresh, I actually really like that line. I think you should keep it!
Also, maybe what makes it a bit confusing for me is a couple of words like “wherewith” are not what I’m used to, so it’s harder to process the meaning of the poem.

@w-o-holmes I love writing haiku! Here’s one I wrote a while ago:
Prey
The ancient owl
Steals softly through the black night
The mouse hears nothing
and here’s another from my blog:
Stories
I hold paper worlds
in my hands: bursting, unfolding;
My eyes see visions
