Hey everyone on the forum. Yes, you.
There’s a Christian film coming out February 22nd called Run The Race and I actually got the chance to preview it at a film festival last year.
Guys, it’s really good! Maybe it’s just slightly cliché, but there’s so much going for it that it gets a resounding A+ from me.
Here are some things I liked about it…[Read more]

Hey Saxon Scribes, as someone who never follows politics, I feel sheepish writing this, but I’ve learned a few things through experience and I wanted to leave you with a challenge.
Few things define a society like its government. Yet, for those of you like me who aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of politics, this can be unnatural t…[Read more]

Daeus Lamb started the topic Sanderson's third law – for truly extraordinary worldbuilding in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
Saxon Scribe, ahoy!
I’m rubbing my hands that I get to tell you about Sanderson’s third law today. Brandon Sanderson is, of course, a famous fantasy author and he developed three laws for how to develop magic systems. You may enjoy reading all his three laws, but today we’re going to focus on law #3 because it applies to spec-fic writers and…[Read more]

Daeus Lamb started the topic Want to get your thoughts on some ideas for guilds in the forum Announcements 7 years, 5 months ago
Hey guys,
The other guild masters and I have been talking about the guilds and we thought we might be able to improve them with a few minor changes. I would really love your opinion on these. We’re not planning on any of these yet, just toying with the ideas, but if you really like them we might roll them out.
Here they are:

Wow! Those all definitely sound convicting, before they were just titles, now you’ve convinced me to go read them for myself. 🙂 And books I can share with my younger sisters! Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂

I can believe that you would be strongly attached to your characters after working with them for as long as eight years! But I also understand how it’s good to move on to new stuff…have you given up on Exotic or are you just putting it on hold for a little while?
Heh-heh…so out of pure curiosity I mentioned…[Read more]

I haven’t read those three books but they sound like what I’m looking for. 🙂 What are they about? What about them did you find convicting?Oh that side of the Hidden Hand, I had forgotten about that. I know what you mean, I agree it’s not something to be read out loud to younger siblings. Which saddens me a bit because I’d like to find…[Read more]

There are two pitfalls with worldbuilding. It seems you either don’t worldbuild enough or you worldbuild so much you can’t keep track of it all.
Worldanvil helps you fix both these problems. Thanks to @kate for recommending it to me.
While this site is built for speculative fiction writers, it could also work well for anyone who wants to…[Read more]

Opps! Yes, I meant The Lost Clue…*eye roll* 😉 I adore that one!!
Hmmm…my sister read The Hidden Hand twice out loud to me when I was a kid…I was probably 7 or 8 the first time and around 12 the second time and I don’t remember anything inappropriate…maybe my memory is just bad. 😛 I should read it again and see what I think of…

Uh, well, I’m not entirely sure yet, but probably self-publish…? I know that you have published some of your own work…any advice? 🙂
THAT is a VERY GOOD thing!! Trust me…tea is amazing!! 😉 I have never tried any of those teas before…but the Vanilla Chai sounds good. I don’t like fruity teas…unless it’s cold Peach…[Read more]

The Lamplighter was definitely the story that had the strongest impression on me, and something that I have read again and again. It wasn’t just a entertaining story like the Hidden Hand, the Lamplighter talked about what a christian looks like and how they handle painful situations. It challenges me. Honestly, I do thinks it’s better…[Read more]

I’ve never tried those kinds before!! Now I will be on the lookout… 😄 And I always put sugar or honey in it. But I’d probably put cream in those new flavours, too, if you do it that way.
Oh ok, I’ve never read the books. It sounds like they’re pretty good, though? And I’m pretty sure I at least started the Haunted Room, but…[Read more]

@cassandraia, That’s okay! Yeah, I think I’m going to have to rewrite the whole thing, because it’s such a rough draft. 🙂 Thank you!
@literatureforthelight, Aw, thanks!
Yeah, I’m definitely going to have to work on these things. I know setting is something I really struggle with in writing. Mostly because I tend to just skimp over it. 😛 So…[Read more]

Hey guys!
This past November, I finally finished a rough first draft of my short story/novella (thanks to a few word wars I participated in). I’ve started this story so many times, but this is the first time I’ve made it through to the end. *Happy dance* 😀
I let it sit through the month of December, and now I think I’m about ready to come back…[Read more]

Cummins which is still my favorite so far, The Hidden Hand, Ismael or in the Depths, and the sequel Self Raised. How did you first hear about the Lamplighter series? I actually…[Read more]

The script is 14,760 words (including the homework exercises).
Optimally, I’d want feedback within a month, though within two months is workable.

Ooh! You write newspaper articles? That’s so cool!
