Hey guys,

The other guild masters and I have been talking about the guilds and we thought we might be able to improve them with a few minor changes. I would really love your opinion on these. We’re not planning on any of these yet, just toying with the ideas, but if you really like them we might roll them out.

Here they are:

1. We would open up the word wars to everyone on the forum, not just those in guilds. I’m not exactly sure how this would work yet, but probably general forum members would sign up to participate and then I would divide them into fair-sized teams.
2. At the moment, we have seven guild masters, each creating a weekly theme discussion topic every week. We’re happy to do it, but it is a lot of work. We’ve considered making it easier on ourselves by having all guilds study the same theme at the same time. So, basically, each week one guildmaster would write up a post on the theme discussion and “guest post” it in all the guilds. At the moment, we still have some wrinkles to iron out with this idea, but mostly we’d like to know if you mind the idea or not.
3. We’ve thought about changing the way people apply to join guilds. So instead of filling out a form and waiting to get put in a guild, people would mingle in the general forum, meet friends, decide to build a guild together, and then as long as they had a minimum number of people together and we approved, they could become a guild.
4. We’ve considered enabling nested replies on the forum. (See my example below.) The rule would be, all off-topic replies should be nested replies. Hopefully, this would help forum members navigate long threads and easily sort through what is on-topic and off-topic.

Example of what nested comments look like:
-“Let’s write about rabbits”
-“Oh, I have a rabbit!”
-“What, really? That’s so cool!”
-“Okay, what does the rabbit want? What gets in his way? Who is the villain?”
