There are two pitfalls with worldbuilding. It seems you either don’t worldbuild enough or you worldbuild so much you can’t keep track of it all.
Worldanvil helps you fix both these problems. Thanks to @kate for recommending it to me.
While this site is built for speculative fiction writers, it could also work well for anyone who wants to organize their research on the time period, location, characters, etc they’re writing about. Here’s an overview of their features: https://www.worldanvil.com/author
To summarize why I like it:
- It’s very organized and easy to navigate.
- The prompts! Whatever category you create, it comes with prompts to help you dive deeper. For instance, if you create an article about a geographic location, it asks you what natural resources it has and if the spot is contested by different people groups. If you create an article about one of your characters, it asks you about their religious views, mannerisms, personal failures, education, and so much more.
I hope you’ll check it out and let me know what you think of it.
