Oh, sorry; I just wanted to let you know about an added detail from an above post about the poetry door. I copied it down here (credit to Dakota’s sister).
He (or she) stepped up to the ivy covered wall. Brushing back the green leaves, he studied the golden object. It was a plaque of some sort of writing on it. He leaned closer and read…[Read more]

That IS a good question. I think @ashira put it very well. Historical accuracy is always in the forefront, and should also be countered with biblical truth. Sometimes I write as though I assume the reader will understand the historical context of the situation. Conversely, I do sometimes struggle with showing what’s common for the t…[Read more]

What a great question! This is actually something I’ve been thinking about recently. I agree with @ashira that history is offensive and we can’t shy away from talking about something just because it makes some people mad or uncomfortable. Yes, it’s very, very important that we present the truth in love, but that doesn’t mean that we…[Read more]

I love romance! And love triangles. Provided that all the parties involved behave like sensible adults.
I agree that there has to be more at stake in the story than whether the couple gets together or not.
What do you mean by “a certain kind of love triangle”?

Eden Anderson replied to the topic For All The Historical Fictioners in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 7 months ago
Yeah, I agree! (Although I do like books where romance is the main plot…I dunno, like both. 😛)
Hey, if it’s done well, than okay, that’s fine. I might even like it. But I’ve read to many books where love triangles were just annoying. 🙃

I stand with @ashira and @selah-chelyah, as I’m sure you were suspecting. 😉 Historical accuracy is important. However, I come close to “alternate history” when I read old sci-fi books. If, say, there’s a sci-fi or dystopian novel written in the 40s about the then future 80s, well, that’s technically alternate history, since it ne…[Read more]

That manga sounds really interesting! I especially like the alternate idea of Japan’s isolation. If I ever come across it, I’ll definitely read it. I also share your views on alternate history. I’ve only read one alternate history that I really enjoyed. It also, I guess, fell into the category of steampunk (Scott…[Read more]
