@joelle-stone I love yours! Are you going to explain more of your story, or just leave us gushing over the pictures?😉
@zee I really like the idea for your story! I like plots that deal with life after marriage, and it sounds really interesting.
Yeah, I definitely have the problem of finding people who look like my characters.😂 I find that…[Read more]

@erynne Your story sounds amazing! I love the necklace thing.
Is Elaina your main character, or do you follow her friends more often?
I love that!😍 That is a really good theme.
@quinn-ofallon I’m not very familiar with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but sounds really awesome. I love retellings. And 70k words…🤩 Congrats!

Hello! Nice to meet another INFP who loves horses!😁 And you love the Wingfeather Saga! *claps*
I’m Grace. I write about wizards, horses, and very flawed characters. My favorite way of writing is in my bed in the early morning, on a computer that isn’t hooked up to the internet.

@tabitha This is such a good question…and one that I have puzzled over too.
My advice would be to go over what you want to teach your reader before writing the scene.
For example, in the Wingfeather Saga, Janner feels like the Maker (God) has deserted them as he watches evil destroy his world. At the climax, the Maker doesn’t directly…[Read more]

Good post! I recently did a short story from the perspective of a mother…thanks for reminding us that the important thing is that each person is unique, no matter what role they play.

Aha! As soon as someone starts talking about Tolkien or Andrew Peterson, I know I need to meet them.😂 And you like to spontaneously organize (which I do also, very spontaneously). So *awkward hug* nice to meet you!

This is an awesome idea. I’ll for sure be watching this thread…and probably trying to put my concept into one paragraph so I can share it.😂

Your Instagram is really cool. Mine is @arindown.art. I mostly do art stuff, but I’m hoping to start another one for my writing as I pursue publishing.😊

I guess I’ll start, and tag a few people.😄
My story is called (right now) Outrider, and it’s about a young criminal who also happens to be a very powerful wizard, and the only one who can save the Middle Mountains from coming danger. My villain is his older brother, but I also have several other antagonists, including the prince of the Middle…[Read more]

@emberynus-the-dragonslayer 20,000 is amazing. Honestly, I’m not even sure how I’m at 58k.😂 Seems like a good accident sometimes (and a bit of hard work).
@Dakota what’s your IG username?

Hey Guys,
I’ve learned a lot about writing, and everyone’s projects since I joined Story Embers, but it’s hard to keep it all straight.
This thread is for introducing your main Work-In-Progress (theme collages, blurb, MC profile, word-count, random facts, etc.) so everyone can enjoy the ideas and encourage each-other.
Get writing about your writing!

@emberynus-the-dragonslayer Your sewing sounds so cool! I’ve never enjoyed sewing much, but I’ve always appreciated people who did.😄
How’s your writing going? I took a break for a couple months, but now I’m working at it again. I’m a morning writer, which requires me to get up early before chores, and sometimes it’s just more fun to sleep in.😂…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic My WIP Romance in the forum Romance Writers 5 years, 2 months ago
@erynne Thank you. I feel like everyone has to deal with this stuff sometime in their writing journey.
I usually use Lord of the Rings or Wingfeather Saga as my reference. Both deal with relationships (even hard ones), and both have smoking and maybe some alcohol, but neither have language, and the men treat ladies with respect. I draw my line in…[Read more]

@sparrowhawke I was going to reply earlier, but this is a really hard topic.😆 I think I agree with Lona…the first one seems more plausible.
I think the problem with most writers is not what they have for “gods,” but how they do them. The Chronicles of Narnia dealt with 2 “persons,” Aslan and the King Across the Sea, but it doesn’t seem weird at…[Read more]

That’s some pretty heavy stuff. For me (I’m 17), I try to stay away from all that stuff. Not because it doesn’t happen, and not because Christians shouldn’t address it, but because I’d rather write from an optimists point of view…encouraging good relationships, and leave the pessimist (dealing with hard relationships) to…[Read more]

Arindown replied to the topic Using a Pen Name in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
@sparrowhawke My only thought is that you have to be consistent with whatever name you pick, and to make sure you don’t have the same name as someone else.
I’m planning to use my real name, but instead of Grace, I’ll put Gracie, because there is already a writer with my name.
