Yeah, I can see now how that would be confusing. Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

Hi, Jenny! I like your vivid writing style and how the first lines of each stanza were parallel to each other. The way you ended it was cool too. I can’t think of any recommendations for improvement. Sorry. 🙂 It looked great to me.

Drowning
In doubt,
In hesitation.
Submerged
In my uncertainties
It’s wrong.
.
Hiding
My face,
All my feelings.
Deception
To cover
My anxiety
.
Fighting
To open,
To unbolt.
Conflicting
Emotions,
I’m confused.
.
Am I a closed door?
No.
But will this door ever open more than a crack?
No.
You think you know me.
Do you?

I don’t know if you’re still looking for feedback on this or not, but just in case you are:
I thought this was really good! The main suggestion I have is that in the very first line, “was and am isn’t” really tripped me up. I understand now what you’re saying, but it took me two or three glances to piece it together.
My favorite line was “I…[Read more]

I haven’t written much poetry, but this is one I’ve been working with recently. I feel like it still needs some changes, but I’m not sure how to move forward with it. Any critique would be great, especially comments on the doc.
Also, as I think…[Read more]

Your question made me laugh. Is it ever sensible? Probably not… Unless you are using it to woo someone. I think it’s sensible for a guy to use a bit of romance when proposing, otherwise, the girl might just say no. (depending on the girl I suppose) But in most cases, it’s probably likely to set your heart way ahead of your head. I guess, as I…[Read more]

I have to say, the way you worded your post title question made me smile. Is romance ever…sensible?

I do pronounce it like from the Lord of the Rings! That’s actually who my parents named me after. 🙂
Baby naming books are full of weird things. They are helpful for finding normal names that my brain won’t come up with alone though.
I am not smart enough to create my own names. I mostly write in the “present-day America”, so I…[Read more]

Well, good luck, then. Romance or not, I’m sure it will be a good story either way.

Ahhhh! That was so great! I resonated so much with this poem. Especially the lines,
“Habitual failing -I wish I could quit” and
“Make my love greater than my pain,
Help my vindictive soul to change,”
Excellent word choice. 😀

@zee Since I wrote the above blather I have circled back around to being a romance again. (Actually, I tried to delete the previous post. You weren’t supposed to see it. It was resurrected somehow. There’s a story for ya, the discussion post that wouldn’t stay dead. Zombie Post)
Saturday I drove to the town in which my story is set, hung a…[Read more]

@laur_m, sounds to me like you’re not moving around in circles, but in the right direction! I had a similar issue with the first novel I tried to write (which ended up being scrapped for parts) I wanted it to be an adventure story, but it ended up a romance. Sometimes, a story can go a lot of ways, but there’s often only one best way, and it’s…[Read more]

@amaustin Oh, I love your name!😍 Do you pronounce it like Arwen Evenstar from Lord of the Rings?
Baby books can be great…but sometimes they have weird meanings for great names. Do you ever make up meanings for names you invented? I want to sometime.
I usually say my name Air-n-down, but I’m not picky (actually, I say it Are-in-down half the…[Read more]

Hey, everybody. Feel free to leave me some feedback on my poem. What do you think I can do better? 🙂
The Snare
The Bible declares that fear of man is a snare,
And this truth matches my experience,
I know it’s real as I’m hearing this.
For a dozen times I can be fine,
And the journey goes pretty well,
But I still think about when I’l…[Read more]
