Gabrielle Pollack started the topic Avensbeck Book Club, Anyone? in the forum Avensbeck Writing Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
Hey friends!
Would anyone like to join an Avensbeck book club? I’m not sure what we’ll read (it depends on everyone’s suggestions) but if enough people are interested, I’ll hammer out the details. ๐
Would you guys like that?

Hello!
This next guild war is a little different than the last. Instead of creating a story together, we’re going to keep track of the number of words we write. Whichever guild writes the most wins!
Here are a few rules and such:
-the competition starts today and ends Monday
-Only fiction and poetry counts
-Only new scenes count (editing and…[Read more]

Gabrielle Pollack started the topic Weekly Goals #2 in the forum Accountability & Achievements 8 years, 3 months ago
Hey friends!
Last week we shared writing goals we wanted to reach before the week was out. I didn’t achieve mine, but I still felt like the practice was beneficial <span style=”background-color: #f6d5d9;”>andย </span>motivational. ๐
What are your writing goals for this week?
My goals are:
1. Edit 18 chapters of my WIP
2. Finish those…[Read more]

@allison-grace @aislinn-mollisong I actually have something similar in a series I’m writing. The prologue is in 3rd person, the rest of the book in 1st. In my final book, I switch between the points of view of different people (the MC is in 1st person and the others are in 3rd) but I separate them with barriers. It works very well! ๐

Allison Grace replied to the topic The Great POV Switch in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
That could work! But maybe you could do like this:
Amber
I love cheeseburgers. I went to the store to get some mustard.
***
Brendon
I walked my dog to the park.
If that made sense. Then you separate them with the *** and have their name (maybe in italics) just to be sure your readers follow you. ๐

@aislinn-mollisong I think it would be. Different fonts could work, but that might be hard to read depending on the fonts you chose.
I’ll ask you the question that got me thinking. Why does this story need to be told this way? You don’t need to tell me if you don’t want to, I just wanted to ask the question. ๐

@josiah Hello! I’m working on editing my 5 book fantasy series. It’s about a girl who is battered by various trials and sorrows that test her faith and threaten to embitter her. First she watches her village burn and learns of the death of her parents, and then she and her brother must flee from everything they have ever known and begin life anew…[Read more]
