@kate *salutes back*
@r-j-karas *fastclap, confetti, cheering, balloons, candy, and a pinata.* Good work! I did notice that you didn’t say it was a fish at the beginning. I’m glad to hear that was on purpose. No wonder there were so few visuals in the beginning. 😀
@rosemarylouise I’m excited too!
Thanks, @chalice, @samuel, @rosemarylouise, @se…[Read more]

Hi. *Handshake* You don’t know me at all, but names are something that I love brainstorming, so I’ll just jump in here. : ) First, though, a question: what does she look like?

It’s so funny you mention that, because just yesterday I found the coolest naming site ever! Okay, well, I think so. It’s not a name generator, as such, but you can find just the right one.
https://www.behindthename.com/
What I like about this is you can search for meanings as easily as actual names. You can also very easily narrow the…[Read more]

@kate Thanks for all the input, and for volunteering to submit the final draft.
I do think we should try and vote as soon as possible, so we can put as much work into the draft before we submit it.
For those of you who haven’t read them yet:

So, when I saw the suggestion Noah posted about a fishbowl, my imagination started spinning. I just had to try it, and found it to be tons of fun. 🙂 For me, the best way to learn is just to do it—er, try to do it 😉 Whether my prose is a worthwhile start, only you all can be the judge. Whoever’s rough draft we use, the experience is the point, r…[Read more]

Hey guys, sorry I’m late this week. I had a lot on my plate.
Better late than never though.
When it comes to character development, one of the stupidest things I ever did was ignore backstory. (Head, this is wall. Wall, meet head.)
I’m still not an expert at it though, so I wanted to ask: how do you develop a character’s backstory? Along the…[Read more]

Hey Saxon Scribes,
If you checked our guild war calendar recently, you’d know that this is the date for another story prompt competition. I know our story (and we as writers) will benefit a lot if everyone participates and shares their input.
Here’s the prompt for this guild war:
Write any story you choose with the most original and creative p…[Read more]

@kate *fist bump back, but fails to see how it’s any more quiet than any other fist bump*
*In my best Armie Hammer impression* Is it really that obvious?
@daeus-lamb I’m honored that you’re honored.
Wait… are you discrediting the authenticity of the other INTPs on the forum?
There’s a lot of people on here that I haven’t met yet. Did the…[Read more]

Saxon Scribes,
Lo, guilt is fascinating.
I totally love it. The Scarlet Letter, Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov. These are like butter on bread to me.
Guilt is something we don’t see a lot these days. About the only times it’s used in fiction, it’s used poorly. The guilt isn’t fully built up to, doesn’t feel authentic, and leads t…[Read more]

Yes, the title of this thread is a joke. Yes, this is an icebreaker.
You are the ice, and I am going to break you to pieces.
Sorry…I don’t know where that came from.
Anyway! You all look like fun people and I really want to meet you. Here are five questions that will unveil your very soul.

Hey guys, so things are changing.
I just held a planning meeting with the other guild masters and we were talking about how to improve the guild experience so we can all safely say the guilds are the most awesome place for writers to be.
Based on these decisions, we’ve decided to make a few changes. (PLEASE PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION).
First and…[Read more]

@sesi  – “His footsteps sounded sharply, echoing hollow and distant through the empty house” something like that. @wordsmith It just bugs me that you used the phrase ’empty house’ twice in a sentence. 😀

@wordsmith, around where I live (just outside of Pierceton, the most adorable little town you’ll ever see)Â We’ve had all kinds of weathers. Sometimes its rainy, sometimes it sunny, and in the winter (of course) it can get really cold!

“His shoes clapped down on the hard wood floor, a deafening sound in the empty house, as it bounced around the empty house.”
This is how I might phrase what it sounds like you’re saying. Hope it helps.

If you like historical fiction, you should check out G. A. Henty. I love his books! A little old fashioned, but so good! Have you ever listened to Lamplighter Theater- or Heirloom Audio? They turn a lot of old books into dramas, and they’re SO good!

I was just wondering what the topography of the land around you is… I live in the forests of Texas, with like no mountains. But when you say 78 degrees that makes me think farther northern US.
Do you live in mountainous areas? Lot’s of trees? I personally tend to lean towards preferring foresty mountains.
