    Saxon Scribes,

    Lo, guilt is fascinating.

I totally love it. The Scarlet Letter, Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov.  These are like butter on bread to me.

Guilt is something we don’t see a lot these days. About the only times it’s used in fiction, it’s used poorly. The guilt isn’t fully built up to, doesn’t feel authentic, and leads to cheesy confessions, conversions, or melodramatic despair.

Here are some questions I think will lead us collectively to a better understanding of guilt.

    1. What are the best examples of guilt you’ve seen in fiction or real life? What are the worst examples you’ve seen?
    2. Why do you think some people feel guilty over their sins and others don’t? Why do you think we feel guilty over some sins but not so much others?
    3. What are some external and internal signs that someone is feeling guilty?
    4. What does Holy Spirit inspired conviction look like?
    5. How can writers use guilt to craft the deepest, most intense stories possible?

P.S. If you’re new to these theme discussions, you might want to check out our past ones. They’ve been pretty good. 😀
