Currently I’m trying to find the right sound for shoes in an old empty farmhouse. I want it to sound hollow but sharp. I know how this should sound in my head but I can’t figure it out on paper. Any suggestions?

“His shoes clapped down on the hard wood floor, a deafening sound in the empty house, as it bounced around the empty house.”

This is how I might phrase what it sounds like you’re saying. Hope it helps.

@sesi   –  “His footsteps sounded sharply, echoing hollow and distant through the empty house” something like that. @wordsmith It just bugs me that you used the phrase ’empty house’ twice in a sentence. 😀

@wordsmith *laughs* I do it all the time by accident. Then I’m freaking out because I hate doing that but I can’t think of another way to put it without using the same thing twice. The extreme meme version is a joke that writer’s hate using the same word twice within a chapter XD

@wordsmith There! Wait… should there be a comma between ‘house’ and ‘as’? I get confused with commas.
