Hey, @emberlin_authoress! I’m so glad you finally got to join! I’m looking forward to hopefully writing with you on the RPfL! Oh and Rhysian is also on here as well as several other Aetherlighters and Christwarders (lol, haven’t found a name for that yet).
To clarify what @selah-chelyah was saying, I am one of her beta readers. Also, speaking of…[Read more]

@selah-chelyah O thank you so much Selah! I’ll check it out 🙂
@northerner I agree, anything written in the time period you’re researching is always the best!

Hi Selah, I have to say I LOVE your name!
I enjoy many things a few of which are, singing playing the violin, teaching a Sunday school class and of course writing! 😀
I live in Zambia Africa as an MK!
I have several, but one is of a talented child, a teacher with a secret past and a crafty and desperate writer are thrown…[Read more]

@selah-chelyah and everyone: G. A. Henty is good at plotting. Admittedly, he put a lot of work into making one plot, which he then used for every single book of his, but he wouldn’t be the only writer to do that. Once in a while he’s not terribly bad at characterization. However, his historical accuracy is conspicuous by its absence, as a…[Read more]

Ariel Ashira replied to the topic On writing God in a story in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 7 months ago
@lin I think you are right on. This is on of the main reasons I decided to write his-fic instead. I personally feel making up God in a different way is too dangerous ground for me to walk on. I dont want to be condemned by God someday because I led people or myself astray by the way I portrayed Him. There is one WIP I have that is “fa…[Read more]

yes, you must check them out. They are amazing.
Screwtape Letters, thats the one. its the only one that I’ve read all the way through because I had to return the other two to the library and then never found time to finish them.
I’ll have to check out that list 🙂

@selah-chelyah, first might I say I love your signature
Anyway, I absolutely adore the Melanie Dickerson fairytale retellings set in medieval Germany and England. Have you read those? I also enjoy Tess Afshar books, particularly the one about Lydia from Acts. Those are my main source of historical fiction, though there are a few others that I…[Read more]

This week we’ve got Faith Blum (a former Meerkat!) with some wise advice about writing with a busy schedule. I’m sure we can all relate to this. 😅
24 hours. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. That’s how much time we have each day. And yet, it seems like we never have enough hours, minutes, or seconds to get everything done. What do you do when y…

@selah-chelyah Thanks! 😀
You can create a google form if you have a simple google account. You just go to google drive << New << More << google forms. It’s pretty easy to set up. And if you can’t do that, you can also just type the questions out on a document and ask them to add their answers in, then email it back to you.

Jane Maree replied to the topic [ROLE PLAY] The Magic Thief in the forum Character Development Corner 7 years, 7 months ago
@ashira @selah-chelyah Nope, they don’t have to be magical! They can just join the quest so that the characters/world with magic can have it returned. 😉
You don’t have to go very in-depth with backstory. It can just be something like “grew up an orphan and is now working as a blacksmith in a small seaside village”. No big deal.

Hello, Selah! *waves*
I like what you said about portraying the typical beliefs of people from the given era correctly. I think it’s important to try to step into our characters’ shoes.
Your last paragraph…YES. Characters are the key.

Perfectionism can crush your work, for sure. I love that you both have so many ideas; I often get frustrated because I don’t have new ideas for stories or struggle with feeling like NONE of my ideas are original in the least. I am fairly good at prose and engaging the emotional side to writing characters and events,…[Read more]
