@myclipboardismyviolin Those are really great thoughts! I definitely appreciate your comments.
@faith_blum I feel like in a way, the guilds are too big. In other words, it’s hard to have a tight-knit community because it’s not small enough to be tight knit. Maybe if guilds were smaller (had less than ten people?), there could be more…[Read more]

Avensers assemble!
As you’ve noticed, activity has been pretty low here. Same with the other guilds.
That’s fine if everyone’s busy, but if it’s just because the guilds weren’t attractive enough…
Well, we should do something about that then.
After talking it over with some of the other SE staff, we have an idea. This isn’t a premade decis…[Read more]

Today’s topic is Gathering Inspiration from Others by Martin
At different points in our writing journey, we find ourselves more or less empty of ideas. This can happen in between projects, or in the middle of a project. I’m not talking about writer’s block, though that is related; I’m talking more specifically about simply not having ideas for o…[Read more]

Hi, I know I’m really late to this, but I do have one thing to say.
As one of the youngest people on here I am also one of the youngest readers. I love reading, and one of my favorite genres to both read and write is realistic fiction. But, now when I find a realistic fiction book I have to check when it was written. Six new realistic fiction…[Read more]

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. My mind is already twisting and turning to create an antagonist, can’t wait to start.
I rewrote the beginning like you suggested. Is it good now, or should I try again?
Also, I wouldn’t normally ask this, but I’m hoping to fill out a guild application soon. As you likely know, one of the…[Read more]

Today’s topic is about how to deal with procrastination and was written by yours truly.
Procrastination. It’s a nasty little dragon that often grows ginormous at the most inconvenient times. For instance, the last week of NaNoWriMo. It will bring in other things such as a new shelf that needs a place in the living room which facilitates an entire…[Read more]

What are your goals for this week?
My goals this week are to finish the VBS skit editing, write 1 page in LLM per day, write 250 words in ILTS, and edit CTF for about 10 hours this week.

@jenwriter17 @myclipboardismyviolin @faith_blum The ending is too abrupt. And, the idea to put in the last part of the old story is a good idea.
I will be out most of the afternoon as well.
@myclipboardismyviolin did you want to give it a go? We could all look at it again tonight maybe. 🙂

I have taken note of all your suggestions. 😉 But, sadly, I will be out of the house all day today. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make the changes before the deadline, but we’ll see! But if one of you would like to try and make the changes yourself, be my guest!

@myclipboardismyviolin with regards to your last comment, did you mean, that you’d like to have the prisoners be outside when the sunrises, rather than stepping out directly into the sun?
I think that would be feasible, it would only take a few tweaks in the story to fix. @jenwriter17 what do you think? 🙂

Christianna Hellwig replied to the topic Writing Prompt War: June 2019 in the forum Announcements 6 years, 11 months ago
@myclipboardismyviolin thanks so much for pointing that out. The first story was, in many ways, a lot better as a story. I would encourage @jenwriter17 to keep it around, and who knows, maybe for some future need. We can change names and such.
You’re right, life isn’t about writing prompts. But that’s not our purpose here. I view this guil…[Read more]

I can definitely see both sides, @myclipboardismyviolin and @jenwriter17. When I read the second story, my thought is that the ending came a bit too abruptly. Can you combine them a bit more?

Jenna Terese replied to the topic Writing Prompt War: June 2019 in the forum Announcements 6 years, 11 months ago
Hmm, I see…Christianna thought that it fit better with the story prompt, since that was supposed to be the focus. But I don’t know! I guess I can recover the old story if need be. @faith_blum, are you allowed to give input on this?

@myclipboardismyviolin Hi, sorry I didn’t get to you sooner, I was on vacation all week.
No, this story is not based off of anyone I know. It is just something I am passionate about. And, thank you, I try to research well.
You said my story was dark, and I agree with you. Are you saying that is a bad thing? I don’t think you are, but I’m just…[Read more]

Well, I rewrote the story in the same document. I think the sun is more of the focus now, and it’s about two pages shorter than the first story. What do you think?

Yes, it was. I will work on making it more the center of the story like @christianna-hellwig suggested.

@jenwriter17 I read your excerpt, and it’s a great draft, but I think we need to make a few big changes if we want to win. Like @myclipboardismyviolin implied, we’re left a little lost as to what exactly is the ordinary thing of emphasis. There should be no doubt in the reader’s mind, that this normally mundane thing such as a sunrise is the ce…[Read more]
