Well, I did write last week, so that was encouraging. I think I learned that I have to make myself write, even when I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I’m going to be super busy, so I don’t have much time this week, but I want to write 100 words this week. Hopefully that will get me started on the next bit of this chapter.

@faith_blum (and everyone else) I have it down to 3995 words! I’m still open to suggestions/corrections/edits, but I may not be around much tomorrow to implement them, so the sooner the better!

Hey everyone!
Here’s the story I have: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dvf3pl0IuuSm7IcnRUX8I_0Vo5_zVFWJvkC9zhmHN4g/edit?usp=sharing
It’s too long right now, but I’m working on cutting it down. Questions/critiques/comments/abridgments are welcome!

That would have been great if I was working on something… I have been thinking about it but actually haven’t written anything.
I will do my best, though. I’m thinking about either something medieval or early 1900s standard detective. Or perhaps something entirely different. I’m not sure yet. 😉

Ooh I love mysteries! Not that I’ve ever actually written one…
@faith_blum Can you remind me when this is due and how many words it needs to be please?

@myclipboardismyviolin Those are really great thoughts! I definitely appreciate your comments.
@faith_blum I feel like in a way, the guilds are too big. In other words, it’s hard to have a tight-knit community because it’s not small enough to be tight knit. Maybe if guilds were smaller (had less than ten people?), there could be more…[Read more]

Ah! I have done nothing, planned nothing and written nothing for far too long. This week, I do have a long car trip planned though, so I’m going to try to finish chapter 3 of my WIP (about 4500 words). We’ll see what happens…

@storyjoy You can do it! Start with small goals (like 50 or 100 words a day, or even one sentence)!
My goal for this past week was to write 100 words a day. I ended up writing 1107 words, so my goal for this next week is to write 200 words a day every day. Even if I write extra on one day, I can’t not write the next. 🙂

@jenwriter17 I’ve published two of my books with Lulu, and it has been really great because I keep total control over my book. They give you the ISBN, and you can do anything you want with your book (they also offer cover help and other things you can pay for). I’m actually looking at KDP now, though, because of the price. On Lulu, I published my…[Read more]

My goal is to actually write this week. I don’t care if it’s just a hundred words a day, but I want to make myself write every day this week. 🙂

We’re almost there!! I finished 16 and moved it. I can’t find a reference to a number 25, though, and the two references to 26 don’t seem to point to the same option. Do you want me to change one of those to 25?
Also, I really loved 17. 😉

@myclipboardismyviolin I’ve changed a couple things with tenses (I think we’re sticking with somewhat of a present tense?? At least that’s what it feels like)… Which ending is the happy one? I can write a few endings, but I don’t want to take the one that ends well. 😉

@myclipboardismyviolin I added a little bit, and also changed some of the numbering based on Christiana’s suggestions. I know you mentioned that you wanted it to end with a gospel message. I’m not quite sure how to build that in, but do you want most of the options to end in the MC dying? (It’s not hard to see how most of these could end like…[Read more]

@myclipboardismyviolin I like it! The first part is a little bit confusing with all the names, but I really like your characterization (it’s like an info dump without being an info dump, which is fabulous!! 🙂 ) Do you want to put it on a Google Doc so we can edit/work on it?

@myclipboardismyviolin I like to time myself and see how fast I can write. For example, it takes me about 20 minutes to write 1000 words. (This may vary for you, as it does vary for me depending on the day/where I am in the story/if I actually want to write or am making myself write!) So if I want to write twenty minutes a day, then my goal is…[Read more]

Ah, this is so true! I often find myself writing like what I read. When I was nearing the denouement of my last novel, I read several books by the same author with long, drawn-out denouements. I didn’t want to end my story like that, so I had to go read different authors to remember how to write a proper denouement. 😉
Some of my favorites are…[Read more]

@faith_blum Thanks so much for this! I’m struggling with making time for writing (and making myself write!), but these are great tips and I really need to put them into practice.

I didn’t quite make 6000, but I was at 5400, so that was fairly close. This week I want to write 10-13,000 more. That sounds overly ambitious, though, so we’ll see.
