@myclipboardismyviolin   thanks so much for pointing that out. The first story was, in many ways, a lot better as a story. I would encourage  @jenwriter17   to keep it around, and who knows, maybe for some future need. We can change names and such.

You’re right, life isn’t about writing prompts. But that’s not our purpose here. I view this guild rather like a classroom, and the contests are rather like exercises. When we submit a paper for an assignment, it matters not how well it was written if it does not conform to the rules of the assignment. We were given a challenge, a particular challenge, and we’re trying our best to see how well we can write about an ordinary phenomenon in a dramatic circumstance. No harm done in any case, we got a good story out of it, but I do think it’s important that when we write for these things, we follow the guidelines, and compete to the best of our ability within the set parameters. It sharpens us as writers. 😉

That’s why I pushed to change the story like I did. It wasn’t that I considered it inferior to what we have now, so much as, it wasn’t exactly what we were challenged to write. 😉 That’s my two cents….I’ll stop talking now.
