@libby Yes! I actually did that on purpose. 🙂 She’s one of my favorite fictional characters. My name is Emma though, not Emily. Not many people I have met have read any of her other books besides Anne, so it makes me so happy that you love them too!!
Haha! Me too. I always remember what they sound like, not their names. 😀

@emgc Yes, the Lamplighter audio dramas are great! The White Gypsy is probably my favorite audio drama of theirs. 🙂 My favorite books include The Hidden Hand by E.D.E.N. Southworth, A Wide, Wide World by Susan Warner, and The Last Sin-Eater by Francine Rivers. I love the Mysterious Benedict Society and Narnia too! My favorite authors include…[Read more]

@libby Sounds like some good options! The school I’m going to is very liberal, but I’m doing dual enrollment for all the core classes, so I’ll only be taking music classes while I’m there. (It’s also REALLY close to me, so I’ll be able to live at home.)
Favorite composers: Bach, Scarlatti, Satie, Ravel, Chopin.
Well–I have waaaaay too ma…[Read more]

@emma-starr That’s great! Stepping Heavenward is my mom’s favorite, so she had each of me and my sisters read it for school. And now it’s one of my favorites!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of The Candymakers, but maybe I should look into that! Did you read The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict? It’s also amazing.
How long have you…[Read more]

@libby A kindred spirit! 🙂 *virtual hug* I’m planning on going to St. Mary’s College of Maryland. They have a great music program, and I already take from the artist-in-residence, Brian Ganz. (Look him up on youtube–pure genius!!!) What about you?

@jenwriter17 She was super relatable! 😀 Nadine knows how to write to young adults. 🙂
@law013 I really need to read this book. XD I like what you said about emotion hiding theme. I’ve noticed really good writers manage to hide their theme and release it at super impactful moments in ways readers don’t expect.
@libby I remember a little of Uncle…[Read more]

I don’t think I have any other suggestions for your poem right now, but I do think the revisions you made to the last stanza are great! 🙂 -

I’m going to be honest, I couldn’t think of anything to post this week. So, since topic #10 didn’t have any replies (because I didn’t tag anyone. Silly me. 😛 ), I thought I’d revive and expand on it.
A while back I found this quote in a book about fiction and emotion, and it hit me pretty hard:
“When readers feel strongly, their hearts are o…

You did a great job with this poem!
I thought the answer could be the Cross/salvation because of the references to being lifted up in the first stanza. The lines “Arresting spirit at its birth/It promises a brand-new start” also made me think of how we are reborn spiritually when we are saved through Christ’s death on the cross.
I wasn’t…[Read more] -

@libby, Yeah I think you could have different answers. Maybe. Maybe there’s rules for riddles. I’ll check. Google it, or whatever.
The last part is actually what made me think hope first instead of God. Because I’d say people actually do look for hope before they look to God, I mean if they’re not Christians, that searching and looking for…[Read more]
