Maddie Morrow started the topic World Building. A History in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
Hi guys! So I guess I forgot to post this week, but here I am to continue our world building discussion.
Today I want to get into the history of your world.
In my opinion the history is one of the first things we should try to figure out, because without knowing where the world came from, it’s hard to say what it is now.
For instance, Panem w…[Read more]

I, David started the topic A (Short) Story Of Mine in the forum Knaphollow Writing Discussions 7 years, 5 months ago
So I recently finished a 4 part, (very) short story. I invested a fair amount of time and emotion into it, and I think it turned out alright. I’ll post the first part here. Read it if you want, and if you do, please let me know what you think and how it made you feel. All comments and critiques are appreciated, good and bad alike.
So yeah. Wit…[Read more]

My story is set in the real world, and it is difficult to world build when you don’t have the freedom to do whatever you want.

Panem is an excellent world. Definitely agree.
An Ember in the Ashes is on my to be read list!
Yes, I didn’t read a lot of Rick Riordan, but I think he did a great job building off the real world. Things still fit and made sense, but he put his own unique spin on it and it worked great. Worldbuilding within the real world can b…[Read more]

Hi guys!
Since there were two votes for world building when I asked, and when I looked at the answers filled out in the guild application forms there was also several requests for it, I thought we’d start out our year talking about world building.
World building is important whether your story takes place in the real world, or a made up one, and…[Read more]

I was thinking more a chief skill. I also wouldn’t want to pin myself to only being a poet. 🙂

@maddiejay Mama Steve ftw!
@everyone else I like these ideas… hmm. Uh, I guess I’d say anything kinda Harry Potter-y is a 10/10 to me, heh. Hobbittiness, not so much, but… oh well. XD
I also love your idea with the hill thingy (wow, so descriptive of me), @heather-drabant .

KnapHello everyone! A few random thoughts:
I’m really getting this idea that Knaphollow is less a place and more a group of nomads seeking a better home. @heather-drabant, your thoughts were beautiful! I love the idea of seeking out a crest on a hill and leaving a dark hollow (our old life) behind. I’ll be praying for you, sister. I can only…[Read more]

Knaphello, everyone!
So, before being placed in the wonderfulness that is Knaphollow, I was looking at the other guilds, what they stood for, and which ones I liked the best. Point being, all the guilds kinda have a thing. The Meraki are secret agents and love Meerkats. Erekdale is a magical land of dragons and such. New Wessex is a noble nation…[Read more]

I was not previously part of any guild, but when I hopped on here yesterday I had the Rilumen badge and could see the Rilumen guild as well as this one. So I’m not really sure where I’m supposed to be.

The MCU is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So just Marvel movies in that universe.
Yeah, probably same here; TDW is a wreck… Hulk and Iron Man 2 are also way down there for me, but not quite as bad.
