Thank you, Maddie! I’m glad you liked it. It was fun. Happy to know you had fun with it also. I’ll come up with some more mashup options for October and recycle the ones that didn’t get used this time around. Feel free to throw in any ideas.
Awesome story. I think you captured the feel of both genres really well within the word count…[Read more]

This was a good exercise for me right now (surprise, surprise, the one who came up with it) it was nice to get into the flow of fiction writing again after doing mostly blog posts. I’ll…[Read more]

Oh my gosh, Maddie! I’m glad you’re safe. No stress, no guilt. That would rattle anyone into forgetting less pressing events.
Praying for all involved.

Glad you like the idea! I’ll write up some possible combos.
Also, great intro, Maddie!

Oh man so many possibilities. I’m not sure what has already been done recently since I’ve been so out of the loop, but what about a genre mashup? Like a bi-weekly system of putting two genres together, that are not normally together? An experiment, kind of, with prompts if necessary.
Idk it’s been a long day. I’ll iron out the idea…[Read more]

Hey @maddiemorrow ! I don’t remember anyone else’s tags, sorry.
Not that anyone realized I was gone, but I wanted to peek in and say I’m going to attempt to be more involved here. I apologize for my absence. Life got insane there for a few months, Y I K E S.
But I’d be a fool not to try and integrate back into such an awesome writing community.…[Read more]

Oh boy. The struggle is real.
Well, I have one character in my main WIP who is Italian, and one who is south Asian. I’ve mostly struggled with Bibek (the south Asian one) because there are so many layers to India’s languages. Seemingly endless merges, depending on the area and such. It’s been difficult to portray his speech patterns correctly and…[Read more]

Awesome, glad to hear it. I believe the last Ember book comes out this year, so you’d be just in time to not have to wait!
I agree. Worldbuilding within the real world is a special kind of tricky, and he seems to have that down to a science.

Excellent topic. My contribution would usually be The Hunger Games, because obviously, but I feel like that ones been picked to death.
And since Six of Crows and ATLA’s amazing worlds have been mentioned already, I’ll go with An Ember in the Ashes. The world Sabaa Tahir weaves is complex and brutal, and from the first page of the…[Read more]
