You’re not wrong. That’s mostly stuff I’ve come across in my research as well. Though I hadn’t actually connected the dots yet between the emancipation and the Confederacy’s foreign aid. That makes sense, though, beside seemingly pro-slavery quotes attributed to Lincoln, if he wasn’t actually all that much of an abolitionist, and was only…[Read more]

Can’t say I’ve read that one yet, actually. I am definitely interested in getting my hands on it now, though.
With Lee, In Virginia, by G.A. Henty is one that I have read, roughly halfway through high school. It takes place through the eyes of a southerner (plantation owning) protagonist. Again, a work of fiction, but early in the…[Read more]

Got so busy with life that I hven’t logged on in a couple months…
Anyway,
In real history, probably no real reason for the west to start a second secession, other than because they probably could’ve gotten away with it.
But in my story timeline, the town that sparks the new secession movement is under the leadership of…[Read more]

Well, I got hundreds of characters, individual consciousnesses living in my head constantly.
But in the interest of not giving you enough reading to last till kingdom comes… XD
…I will keep it down to some of my most major people…a few of my most, most major people…or maybe just one, given how deep this is probably gonna go…~Ben…[Read more]

His Bard replied to the topic The Elusive Critique Partner Creature in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 6 months ago
I know for me, finding critique partners is a challenge, cause the sheer scale of my stories is probably comparable to Tolkien trying to find a critique partner. Few people want to get invested enough to give the most critical feedback in a tale this big.
However, I have found a few individuals who seem to have taken a shining to the story,…[Read more]

Personally, my lack of activity is all my own fault. I have just been going through so many long days with lots of overtime. I kept seeing the notifications about the guild activity, and kept telling myself I needed to jump on and participate. It just hasn’t been happening.
I will say I’m in favor of the suggested ideas. I don’t know that I…[Read more]

Really? That is a unique view! How would that have worked out, or why do you consider them both to be in the wrong, if I may ask?
Well, the south had slavery, obviously. But freeing the slaves was done all wrong, in my opinion. Britain did it 30 years before the US did, without a bloody and divisive war. And even to this day, the…[Read more]

“The Civil War (I am assuming that when you said Civil War and then American Civil War as well, you were talking about the same war ) , WWI, WWII…I don’t agree with you. Usually that might be what we hear, but that is more our own faults than it is anything else. Or, if we are public schooled, maybe. Otherwise, there are all kin…[Read more]

Yes, what @taylorclogston said.
Now, I admit, I have not read the books, but I have picked up snippets of various books from various places, and I think I can rightfully say they would’ve been a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better story than “the first order” and their “death planet”. XD

Well, “all history is written by the victors” is actually something I picked up from a character in Call of Duty. And while it may be a mere video game, there is actually weight to those words. The American Revolution, the Civil War, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, the American Civil War, the French Revolution, the War of the Roses, any other conflict through…[Read more]

@pookiemonster Hello back! On Star Wars…I liked the first six, but selling to Disney was a mistake, in my opinion. I also think everything in the entire saga was Jarjar’s fault, and I really want an Obi-wan Kenobi movie.

What I meant was whether or not you considered the attacks to really be terrorists or not. Not trying to start any discussions or arguments or anything, just curious. The reason being that my story treats it as an inside conspiracy, because I’ve seen enough evidence to lose all faith in the “politically correct” story.
My life philosophy is…[Read more]

@taylorclogston I have not, actually. I will be sure to bump them up higher on my reading list 😉
@kari-karast I have a bit of a fascination–okay, obsession–with creating and destroying. And I just like the way Lewis depicts these events. I have the Focus on the Family dramatized audio, and those parts genuinely send shivers down my spine.

The Hobbit, and a tossup between The Magician’s Nephew and The Last Battle. The birth and death of Narnia are both pretty powerful.

They kinda just ‘happened to me’, I guess XD
The contemporary fic was my first project, which spawned from me wondering what life might have been like if I would’ve had a twin.
Then I watched Star Wars and got the idea to make my own version that directs less attention to midi-chlorians, more attention to God.Then, I discovered how much…[Read more]

I’ve never been in a dorm/bunkroom type sleeping arrangement, so I can’t speak from experience. But I can tell you that such a setting would, among other personality types, probably have ‘that one guy’, who would likely be similar to me if I ever had been in that situation.
Bed at least half-made, with only a few articles of clothing draped on…[Read more]
