Are you my friend?
You have always cared for me,
caught my tears,
catered to every color I tried to dye my hair.
You didn’t mind the dirt
when I dug spaces in the garden,
and I smiled at how gently
you g […]

Why does heaven feel closer
in the woods?
I ask that
as if I do not know the answer.
Maybe I simply want to tell myself why.
The sky is closer
up here in this tree,
and the forest is where I pour myself […]

I learned to bury myself
in exams and exhaustion,
in pink highlighters and black thoughts,
in study guides and late nights,
in straight As and tangled headphones.
I learned everything I was supposed to […]

This is good. I was especially struck by this imagery:
as long as I serve shiny grades on trays
made one hundred percent of gold,
and never let my smile fall beneath a ninety.Like– like the grade is just a product, the end result that is all that is considered meaningful, and the process behind it can just be forgotten.

I love, love, love reading the unique insight that everyone has when they read poetry. Thank you for sharing!
-

I adore this, and it is so, so true. The imagery is woven in masterfully, and its words have such a tender but firm way of plucking heartstrings and reminding them what it feels like to vibrate, to make music. Thank you for this. <3
-
Thank you so much, Corissa!

This is amazing! It takes all those simple details of a striving student, weaving an image of the effort, the exhaustion, the striving to do and be good, and pointing out that if we lose perspective of what matters and why, we may lose a part of our self in that race. It effectively expresses how University feels at times, and while I enjoy it, I don’t intend to lose my heart. Thanks for the reminder.
-
You summed up post-secondary stress very well. It’s something I’m trying to remember, too 🙂 Glad you appreciated it!
-
-
Wow. I really love this! Especially the last line.
-
Thank you!

-
Go right ahead! I’d be honoured. You’ve got this.

If I were to make a list
of the best feelings I know,
the ones that smell of safety
and taste of tenderness

I would write:
being held in small, strong arms

Unread texts swiped across my screen.

“but I’ve taken the letters of privilege
and taught them to spell burden.”
Girl. Say it louder for the people in the back. What a beautiful way to capture something that so many people feel and validating emotions that will make so many people feel understood. Great job!

Oh gosh, Cindy. I hadn’t read this poem of yours before, but man, did it speak to me!

sitting next to me in the grass,
you look lonely.

and I understand how much that aches.

*blinks rapidly* Wow. That was precious, and I don’t think poetry has ever gotten so close to making me cry. Thank you, dear extroverted one.
-
This was beautiful to read! Thank you so much Cindy! It warmed my enfp soul. 💕
-
Gosh, this <333
-
WOW. Amazing. Breathtaking. Sooo relatable!
This touched me in two different ways, because sometimes I can straddle loud and soft. For me, the lines are blurred, and sometimes I can’t exactly grasp which one I am. But this… this was lovely.
-
And now I’m going to cry! *sniffles* ❤️ My little, extroverted heart relates to this so well.
-
Ahh! Cindy, I love this poem so much!! <3 It make my heart happy. 🙂
-
CINDY. How can you write such beautiful words with such beautiful purpose?? This is perfection. It touched my soul. <3
-
Cindy, this is GORGEOUS! Thank you so, so much, for writing this for us. For everyone you knew and didn’t know needed it. For me.
-
Oh, man. This is so awesome and beautiful I could read it a hundred times and still cry. Thanks so much for appreciating the extroverts.
-
Wow. I was not expecting for that to hit so hard. My little sister is an extrovert, and the rest of my family are introverts like me. I wish she was old enough to read this poem.
You almost made me cry. That simply doesn’t happen when I read poetry.
Thank you so much.
-
Ahhhhh I LOVED this!!

Ack, my heart. *sniffs* ❤️ *goes to hug all my extroverted ones*
