@cassandraia Wow, how’d you end up writing for a missions organization?
@noahlitle lol, my head is spinning. 😀 Those all sound really cool, but complicated too. Looking forward to you coming back!

Holy spagoni, so many replies! O-o 😀 Okay, from the beginning.
@princess-foo I totally agree on your paragraph on physical attraction! I already did hold that as my opinion, though I will say that, in real life, there really are some people who are absolutely stunning and do actually become the “love interest,” per se. However, to avoid…[Read more]

Thanks @daeus-lamb. I pretty much agree with everyone here.
I only have two things to add.
First:
I highly recommend that all of you go watch Betrothed, the movie that HaYovel put out something like ten years ago. It’s very clear and informative, and shows a completely different model of how to pursue marriage.
Secondly, Christian Romance might…[Read more]

@Daeus-lamb @cassandraia *is utterly floored* Great thoughts, guys. I may have a few things to add to the discussion, but they’re gonna hafta wait because my computer is about to go into the shop for repairs.
I’ll spend the time mulling over how I want to reply. 😉

Those are some excellent points. I think I should take a moment to mention that I’m only 15, and I have had no romantic relationships whatsoever before. I mostly based my answer on what I’ve learned through the example of my brother’s and sisters’ relationships.
You’re absolutely right. No relationship is perfect. There are go…[Read more]

@cassandraia Big thumbs up to everything you said.
So I actually just read through Song of Songs to see if there were any good principles to glean from it.
I would like to make a controversial statement: the (rightful) goal of romance novels is to explore romance.
Shocking, right? 😛 It’s debated though, I think, because romance is sometimes…[Read more]

Fight it… Run from it… Destiny still arrives.
A rather melodramatic observation, considering how happy I am to finally be here.
I stand silent before a half-cold hearth, my back to the long darkness of the hall, and watch the embers burn. Coals lie scattered like isolated cities between charred remains of smoking logs. The smoke drifts past…[Read more]

Hey-yo, Saxon Scribes!
I theorize that you never really know a writer until you know what they write, so I thought it would be a nice icebreaker for us to share what we’re writing at the moment.
What’s the premise, what gets you excited about it, and what’s at the heart of the story?

Hey guys! In light of our most recent topic and the general consensus to make the community tighter, I thought I’d share something I’ve been mulling over for a while now.
I’ll run the risk of sounding promotional-y and link to a post I wrote on my blog: What’s Your Writing Personality?
Let’s make this a question/discussion thing. What’s your…[Read more]

@cassandraia Thank you! I got the idea really from a all the descriptions we give of peoples feelings like ‘His anger boiled inside him’ or ‘Her happiness spilled over into her words’ and I thought ‘what would it be like to actual see our feelings doing actions?’.

@wordsmith – Possibly sibling of many a person. I like it.
@brandon-miller – He’s right, you’d never make it as a criminal. You’d have him on your tail, plus me, one of the best detectives in history, considering I’m in all of history! I time travel a lot, mostly to London to work with Sherlock Holmes and Jason Whittacker.

@cassandraia Let’s not call this “My wisdom” because I don’t want to spend my little bit of wisdom on romance advice. Fair?

@ericawordsmith @wordsmith – Yeah, I’m not too fond of Kili and Tauriel. I… don’t really like them. Obviously I cried when he died and wished he hadn’t, but there was just never that ‘thing’ about them that made me like their romance. Plus, I’m a big ‘by the book’ person, which is why I don’t like the Hobbits as much as Lord of the Rings, and…[Read more]

@cassandraia @julianne Good stuff.
I agree that the Star Wars example was cool but got tiring. It reminded me of something common among children — obsessions.
Good analysis, Julianne. Children aren’t really villains, but they’re oh ever so selfish!
As I’ve thought about this, one thing I believe really defines a child’s voice is that they may…[Read more]
