This was pretty much my experience too! So glad that I’ve found some writing friends and Story Embers too.
Yeah, I’m kinda nervous about the whole thing…the publishing world looks so big and scary. *bites nails anxiously*
Eight years?!! WOW! That’s some serious dedication! I’m really impressed.…[Read more]

I read through the whole thing (ideally in one sitting, but probably not if you have a super long project) and comment on all the things I spot that are wrong with it. Plot holes, wording that doesn’t work, stilted dialogue, whatever, I just comment on all of it. (I’ll also fix grammatical mistakes as I find them.) It’s probably not a great idea…[Read more]

Speaking of goals, I totally missed the goals part. *headdesk* Kinda the whole point, yeah? 😛
Goals:
To be completely honest, I’m going to try not to take production rate so crazy seriously. In past years worrying about getting a lot done quickly has really stressed me. Thus, 2019 is me turning over a new l…[Read more]

Hey friends,
Some of you may know that about a year ago I released an in-depth e-course on show don’t tell.
Today, I completely finished all the scripts for part 3 of the course. I’m looking to see if anyone is interested in being a beta for it. What’s in it for you? You’d get free access to part 3 when it is released (value ~$70-$100).

So, that’s what this thread is about. I thought if might be fun to tell eachother what we accomplished in 2018 and what some of our goals are for the coming year.

@cassandraia Ah! I see.
@the-fledgling-artist Yeah, I also see why they’ve probably not started private messages… seems like it could really get out of control… and… clickish. If that makes sense. 😛

@seekjustice aww, I love koala’s! 😀 Yeah, actually I specifically thought of you when I realized that a live chat might not work for everyone. *chuckles*
@cassandraia Private messages would be a cool feature! Though I can also kind of see why maybe SE hasn’t implemented that already.

I’ll take this opportunity to make several announcement.
1. Someone reminded me I never announced the November word war winner. We did well, but Meraki came ahead with 400,000 something total words.
2. We’ve decided there will be no word war the end of this month due to Christmas. 😉
3. I will also be taking off from the annual theme…[Read more]

Howdy, y’all!
Not a very Saxon greeting, but whatever.
We’re talking about worldbuilding today and as I was thinking about this I remembered one of my favorite things about fantasy (this lesson applies to all genres, trust me). Fantasy, particularly, is the genre that revolves around the importance of the past. That might sound weird because HF…[Read more]
