Hi!
Hi @briannastorm It’s always fun to meet another Brianna! 🙂 I am super glad to be here.
@mariposa, hi! I illustrated a book by Natasha Metzler called “Christmas, The whole Story of the God who Loves.” It’s a digitally painted book, but I also do a lot of acrylic painting and… pet portraits! I would love sometime to do my own children’s…[Read more]

@briannastorm I guess I misspoke. I should have said “any agent or organization worth your time,” which it sounds like that linked post (and, I imagine, you) agree with =P

@bekah Paying to submit? Hmm. That doesn’t sound right. Let me tag @briannastorm our local publishing expert. 😉

Inkling-for-Christ started the topic What's a good word count? in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 5 months ago
Hi Emberlings (or whatever we call ourselves)
I have a question. I’m working on my manuscript and noticed that each chapter has a different word count. Some barely reach 200, most are between 200-300, a few exceed 800 and only two go above 1,000. What is a good word average for a chapter? I figured that ~420 words per chapter=15K, ~550…[Read more]

(That’s a lot of stuff to reply to. Lemme know if I missed anything)
@wordsmith No, I don’t think I have read Ender’s Game. I think I’ve heard of it before and we may own it, but if we do it’d take awhile to find out. *looks at the various overflowing bookshelves in my house*
@jessi-rae I’m glad too! And I’m glad you liked my poem…[Read more]

Ah! Great questions. I can’t answer any of them to their full extent, and there are some I won’t bother trying to touch, but I may be able to shed at least a little light on your first question… by tagging these people: @hope-ann @josiah @briannastorm @daeus-lamb
But… I will say that there is worth (quite a bit) to re…[Read more]

Yeah!
@briannastorm @ellen-blanc @scribbles
While were at it… I am an ENTJ (though it’s close between J and P). Honestly I’ve never put much into those titles, but I guess it’s how people communicate around here, and it’s interesting to here people’s perspectives.

Oh. Well, it’s still a neat way to share a poem, even if you made it all up. 😛
Oh, yes! People love their MBTI conversations around here, haha! I’m an INFJ, but I’m very outgoing and talkative with people I like…such that some of them don’t quite believe I’m an introvert. *shakes head and smirks*

Hello, there! I also like poetry, puns, and sarcasm. 😉 Do you write poetry a lot, or just when you introduce yourself? I’ve been writing freeform poetry for about three years now. I tried writing with rhyme and meter years before that, but it just doesn’t work for me, as much as I love to read it.
“I’m easily annoyed by people who call s…[Read more]

@daues-lamb @josiah @hope-ann @briannastorm So while looking around the site, I discovered that you can see one person’s reply to a guild forum in their Activity even if you aren’t their guild. The guild replies don’t show up in Replies Created, only Activity. Wasn’t really sure who to tag, but y’all help run this so thought y’all should know……[Read more]

Thanks for letting us know, Catwing! There’s not a great way on our ends to fix this unfortunately, but since activity pages aren’t visited often, I’m probably just going to let this be for the time being. Thanks for catching this, though!

@briannastorm, Yes! When you say proficient… what do you mean by that?
@morreafirebird, Mentoring would be awesome!
@gabriellepollack, Thanks! I have saved all of those, and will look into them.

As a writer who started young, what @Briannastorm says is 100 percent correct. 😀
I’d recommend anything by K.M. Weiland. Though I haven’t read many of her craft books, her site is gold.
Crafting Dynamic Dialogue from Writer’s Digest is pretty good craft-wise. I’m currently reading through The Emotional Craft of Fiction and am enjoying it. …[Read more]

I know that school has ( or is days away) from starting for us, but it has been on my mind to put this out there and ask if there is any willing soul who might be able to look at my book, Resistance. It is not a proper novel (its only 22,000 words). The basic synopsis is about a resistance movement caught between a rising dictatorship and a…[Read more]

@hope-ann I really appreciated your balanced comment. Also, I just have to say it, your goal/approach to writing – bringing to light the unseen hope, and showcasing that there is victory even in the midst of sorrow – it’s a beautiful, transcendent goal. I sincerely wish you success.
Thank you for your comment about Endbringer. It has had a soft…[Read more]

@briannastorm makes sense. I guess the main experience I have with editors is generally the proofreading/smoothing of line edits aspect of it, not the creative aspect of.
