Here we go…
———————————————————–
Riure sniffed deeply. It was warm and humid, very humid. According to Bator, they were in Kraton, which was known for its gentle, secluded hills and mild climate. Flowers were certainly popping up all over the place by now. Of all the places that she’d visited, this was definitely her favorite kingdom. It was a place where dancing with wild glee was normal. In fact, in her mind’s eye, Riure could imagine a lass with long blonde hair knit with flowers dancing barefoot in the grass. She let out a soft laugh. Although she couldn’t see colors now, she had once been able to, and the ones in her dreams seemed all the more vivid for her blindness.
Sadiq barked, and Riure buried her fingers in her coarse fur, by her neck. Her dog was the one thing Riure could count on, not counting Kening. Ever since Gelosia had died and she’d parted for the last time with Lytt, Sadiq had been the one constant thing that was always there.
A hand grasped her arm. “Are you coming yet?” It was Bator’s voice, a smooth, gentle tenor. Riure had imagined him as a tall, handsome guy with blonde hair and a crooked nose, but then she had broached the subject, and he had laughingly told her that he was nothing of the sort. He was short and squat, with unruly dark hair and a badly disfigured face. She didn’t care. People who weren’t normal inside or out were the most fun.
“Where are we going now?”
Bator didn’t answer.
The world spun.
Riure fell to her knees, throwing her arms around Sadiq’s neck and hanging on tight as the dog growled and tensed. If Sadiq moved, Riure would be right with her. The girl’s fingers ran nimbly along the dog’s muscles, tuned to feel any slight movement that would indicate danger. Wind whistled around her, although Riure’s hair and clothes didn’t move in the least. Riure let out a cry as she seemed to tilt upside-down for a moment. Sadiq barked loudly.
Then all was silent. Cautiously, Riure untangled her arms from Sadiq’s neck and patted the dog. Sadiq stood, and Riure felt her neck swivel as she pressed against her mistress’ leg.
“Erm, hello?”

I’m so glad you guys are all good with the dragons! I think I’ll have them be able to take the form of a human (most dragons can do that, right, depending on what fantasy realm you’re from) And I think I’ll eventually reveal to our developing characters that they’re dragons, but I’ll just introduce them as humans to save some of the theatrics at first meeting, if you get what I mean.
As for their size, I was thinking along the lines of like.. Well, not Smaug sized. A little more like a person of average-height’s head would reach the base of their necks or something? I’ve never read the Fire Emblem series, but I think I’m getting what you’re saying. Are you saying I could introduce them in human form instead of dragon form for an easier introduction?
Number one, I love Riure so much already! How do you say her name, btw? Awesome post!
Number two, I’d forgotten about the dragon-shape-shifting thing, but you and @rusted-knight reminded me!! Thanks guys! You two just opened up a whole new (And very helpful) door.Awesome history! Love it!
Alrighty! I’m in the exact same boat as you, though. My plot’s changing, so I’ve kinda been hesitant to post my characters until now. 😉

November 23, 2020 at 10:52 pm #122005RIE-ooh-ray. Say it quicker and I think it’s pretty. 🙂 It means laughter. And I’m glad you like her! I’ve never written her ever, so it’ll be interesting… 🙂
November 24, 2020 at 6:00 pm #122025I forgot to list a few things about Gwendolen,
Clothes: white shirt, brown pants, black tunic, boots, and cloak. A scabbard is strapped to her hip, and a bow is slung across her back along with a quiver of arrows (coated in “poison” ).
here we go!
Gwendolen raced down one of the many halls in the castle of Dale. Rage and fear for the king filled her her mind. She should have never left him, not even for a moment.
king Hamza had ordered her to go and fetch a map from the new advisors saddlebags, and leave him alone with the strangers. She had not found a map however. Instead, a note that read “stay where you are if you wish to keep your life”.
Gwedolen ran harder and her auburn hair streamed behind her like a flame stretched taught in the wind. She rounded a corner and smashed into the opposite wall. The wall swallowed her whole.
Gwedolen fell. Down down down into blackness. She cried out in fear and grabbed for anything that would slow her fall. The only thing she felt was the wind against her face.
Gwendolen blinked awake. She opened her eyes to a canopy of green leaves fluttering in the branches of a large tree. Her leg was twisted in an uncomfortable angle underneath her and a twig was poking her on the neck. She sat up with a gasp.
the king! Where am I? How am I not dead? Am I dead? Is the king dead? Oy, Captain Ern is going to kill me if I’m not already dead.
She felt rough bark under her hands. She looked up and around and realized she was in a tree. A big tree. She could hear voices nearby. She reached over her shoulder and touched her bow. It was still there which was a welcome relief. Her sword was still firmly strapped to her hip. Good.
She seemed to be in a type of garden, but not the palace garden.
Where am I?
“Only one way to find out. ” Gwendolen muttered. She stood up on the thick branch, and walked along it until it bent beneath her weight. She knelt down and grabbed a hold of the end and tipped over the edge, hanging by her hands. She dropped onto the limb beneath her and scooted to the trunk. There where no branches beneath her and the trunk was to large to slide down so she hung by her hands again and dropped to the ground, landing in a roll. She stood up and walked toward the voices.
Now that she was safe for the moment her worry turned toward the king again. if the new advisors from Themyscira ment harm to the king, the work would be done by now. She saw by the way the sun was positioned that it was now evening. All She could do was get back as soon as she could.
“Sit down!” cried a nearby voice. Gwendolen eased her bow of her shoulder and held a arrow to the string. She peeked from behind a leafy bush and saw two blonde-haired boys. Well, one looked to be a young man, while the other looked to be around Gwendolen’s age of not a little older. The older one was sitting and the other was standing. The older one seemed sure of himself and at ease. Gwendolen drew back her arrow and stepped into sight, pointing her arrow at the ground but ready to raise and fire if needed. “Where am I?” She growled.

November 24, 2020 at 8:06 pm #122030Sry, I forgot to reply to you! Anyway, to answer your questions, yes, I have an illustrator (she’s amazing if you can’t tell XD), no, I don’t have a book out (yet), and my WIP is basically about nine young… people who, linked with dangerous powers working against them, try to overthrow the world-rulers (yes, rulers plural). *shrugs* It may not be that interesting, but it’s fun to write and my beta readers say it’s a good idea, so I’m going with what they say. 😉
November 24, 2020 at 9:00 pm #122033So, IDK if we’re in a garden or a room in the castle… I’m just going to go with a garden…
——————————————————————————
Riure stood just as a voice ordered, “Sit down!” Raising her eyebrows, she complied, and Sadiq rested her nose on her lap, and she twined her fingers around grass.
Voices. A lot of voices. Listening carefully, Riure was able to pick out at least four: a high pitched male, a female with an alluring accent, another male, and another male. The last one was most definitely the one who had commanded her to sit. At least, she thought he had commanded her. Sometimes it was hard to say.
Flowers. Birds. Reaching out in both directions, Riure’s right fingertips brushed a prickly hedge. A garden? Odd…
A new voice broke in, hard but definitely female, along with the unmistakable sound of a thin wooden shaft being drawn across the stout staff of a bow. Great, weapons too. “Where am I?” the lass growled. Judging from her voice, she couldn’t be much older than 16 years of age. The hard no-nonsense I’ll-kill-you-if-you-make-a-wrong-move tone definitely added a level of maturity. Perhaps 15 instead? Not much older than Riure herself.
Okay, so surely this wasn’t a very friendly place. All the better. The “sit down” person was probably in charge and one one side, and the younger girl with the bow was most likely on the other. Perhaps they were both in enemy territory. And perhaps it was time to step up.
“To sit down,” Riure murmured to Sadiq, enunciating the “sit” and “down” clearly. The dog perked her ears, thought for a moment, then nudged Riure’s hand up closer to her neck. Riure gently held onto Sadiq’s scruff as they stood and maneuvered around whatever obstacles blocked their way.
Abruptly, too abruptly for Riure to halt, Sadiq froze. Riure stumbled over the dog and barely caught herself – or, rather, somebody else grabbed her upper arm and yanked upward, effectively keeping her from falling. She smiled up in the direction she guessed the arm came from and regained her balance. Probably a tall person.
“Thank you,” she said, offering another smile. “I’m so sorry. Sadiq doesn’t normally stop so suddenly.”
The grip was released, but something was off. Really off.
Oh. The hands had been tiny.
————————————————————————
@rusted-knight (I did a little reading on Allen, but IDK if I got him right; if he wouldn’t keep Riure from falling or if I portrayed him wrong, let me know and I’ll fix it!)November 24, 2020 at 9:53 pm #122035That’s Allen alright. Let me just incorporate it.
Allen had his fill of the fish. It wasn’t as good as he would have wished but it was better than nothing. It was far too large for him to finish all alone. Even if his friends were here, they might be unable to finish it. Oh well. Lifting the fish up with magic, Allen looked for a place to dispose of it. Enough beasts had been around. Leaving food out to draw more in was a bad idea.
While he had been eating, a girl had appeared. Ehud seemed to know her well and the two were chatting on and on.
“Hey you.”
Allen looked at the newcomer. A girl about the same age as Ehud. She seemed less active than Ehud and colder. Almost like Gridley.
“You can get into some pretty small places without getting noticed, can’t you?”
Allen nodded.
“Rosario de Vera Cruz, you.”
“Allen Zeiss.”
With that he bowed. In the middle of that bow, Allen smelled it. Blood and steel. This girl was a fighter just like him. Ehud had himself a friend that could help him if things went south.
“Sit down!”
Turning, Allen saw Ehud bothering another newcomer. All Allen did was look to the skies. Such energy. Had he forgotten to grow up?
There was a sudden rustle in the foliage. Foe? Spinning around, Allen saw another girl falling quite near to him. Grabbing an arm, he pulled hard and let magic flow into his arms and wings.
“Thank you. I’m so sorry. Sadiq doesn’t normally stop so suddenly.”
Sadiq? Looking back, Allen saw a huge dog. It was tensed in attack position.
“Ha ha.” laughed Allen weakly. “Nice doggy.”
Where was the fish? Maybe it would be more interested in food that was bigger than him.
The Devil saw me with my head down and got excited. Then I said Amen

That does sound cool! Where do you get your beta readers? Sometimes I read the whole page two or three times and still miss what’s going on/completely forget to reply, thx for getting back to me 🙂
@millennium
Heh, I wasn’t very specific in my post, I probably should’ve tagged it XD but that was an awesome reply! thx!“Sit down!”
Ehud promptly obeyed, enjoying this way more than he should. Killer King Kami seemed pretty used to getting his way and Ehud was, being Ehud, was going to milk this. The advantage to nobody taking him seriously was that he didn’t have to take anything seriously either. Stuffing his hands in his pockets he shifted awkwardly and nearly tipped over. So when he regained his balance he smiled up at Kami very innocently.
“My apologies, it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” he intoned in his most formal voice which he could only keep up for about five seconds before cracking himself up. “All we need now is a dragon. Do you have dragons in your world?”
“Erm, hello?” Ehud jumps, finding a new person just a couple feet away bewilderedly sitting down.
“Oh hi, new victim of Lord Castle!” he said “I’m Ehud, who’re you? Cool dog, by the way.”
With that he made a tenitive move to pet it, just as she started to stand unsteadily. Ehud assumed it was the dizzying aftermath of being teleported. But he didn’t have time to think about it because immediately another girl came in with a neat bow.
“Where am I?”
“Ah, excellent question,” Ehud blurted “I have no idea!”To be a light to the world you must shine in the darkness.
November 24, 2020 at 10:27 pm #122037“My apologies, it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” Ehud said.
Kami’s right eyebrow arched. “Pardon?”
Ehud stared laughing and Kami’s frown in disgust.
“All we need now is a dragon. Do you have dragons in your world?” Ehud asked.
“Of a sort-” Kami began, though he was confident it was another silly question.
“Erm, hello?” Another voice interrupted and Kami twitched with irritation. What was wrong with the people here; did they have no idea of respect?
He stood and moved between the newcomer and Ehud, his voice deathly low. Kami tried not to shout and inflect violence before others at his subjects. Rather he spoke with solemn serious and spread rumors that those who rebelled disappeared off the face of the universe.
He rarely had trouble.
“I don’t know how you treat the rulers in your countries, but in mine, people respect me and do my will. Now, do either of you currently and successfully govern 19 galaxies?”
He paused.
“No? Then I propose you get a grip.” He stepped back and his face transformed into a charming grin and his composure became bubbly again. “I hope I made sense! Any questions?”

November 24, 2020 at 10:43 pm #122038Turning, Allen saw Ehud bothering another newcomer. All Allen did was look to the skies. Such energy. Had he forgotten to grow up?
Lol, that just sums it up so perfectly.
Rosario followed the fairy with her eyes as he fluttered to the rescue of a blind girl. Quite the chivalrous little guy, she could see why Ehud liked him. Carefully, she surveyed the scene, calculating each person. The man Ehud had just finished pestering was going to be the hardest to get to obey direct orders; manipulation and flattery for that one. He was quite obvious, the blind girl was uncertain, Ehud would probably have some insights on her which Rosario could use to keep everyone in gear. Then another girl jerked in with her bow ready to aim at anyone. From what she had gathered from Ehud people from various different eras and worlds kept arriving, she was sure she could fire two into the girl before she raised her weapon.
“Where am I?”
“Ah, excellent question, I have no idea!” Frowning at her impertinent friend, Rosario turned her attention to the new intruder. Girl after her own heart, she could tell, married to the job, the direct approach to her would be best.
“Currently, as I gather, none of us knows where we are, each of us have come from different worlds and as of yet no avenue back has been found.” She glanced over all the people and carefully measured her words. “I recommend we begin a search first thing in the morning as soon as it’s light, see what resources we can find and if there are any inhabitants of this place to guide us out.”
Advice wasn’t something to just give around for free, it was a risky investment. Rosario made sure to meet Kami’s eyes and nod deferentially as if for him to take over. It would be best if he thought he was in charge. To be a light to the world you must shine in the darkness.
November 24, 2020 at 10:44 pm #122039*wipes brow* Yay! Glad I got it right (for once, lol)! 😉
Most of them are friends or family of mine. 🙂 They’ve been very helpful.
And yeah, I do the exact same thing! Then I have to go back to get details right for the actual RP part of this and, lo and behold, I missed something! XD
Well done! I liked your post. 😉
November 24, 2020 at 10:49 pm #122040Riure was calming Sadiq down when a voice called, “I don’t know how you treat the rulers in your countries, but in mine, people respect me and do my will. Now, do either of you currently and successfully govern 19 galaxies?”
Riure paused, unsure if he was talking to her. All was still for a moment, including the birds and Sadiq.
“No?” Oh. It was the “sit down” guy. Whoops. She was actually kind of glad Sadiq hadn’t taken her directly to him. A puzzle, this one. Maybe she could work on him later. “Then I propose you take a grip.” Footsteps. “I hope I made sense. Any questions?”
Riure couldn’t help it. Laughter bubbled out of her like a chick from an egg. She knew she had a funny laugh, and whenever she heard herself laugh, she just laughed harder. Not good, calm down, Riure! she scolded herself. Sadiq rubbed against her.
Someone stalked over. Riure could tell he was angry. Her laughter faded, and she turned slightly in his direction, sweeping him her finest curtsy. “Are you the king?”

November 24, 2020 at 11:00 pm #122042“I don’t know how you treat rulers in your countries,” Kami began in a quiet enough voice it sent chills down Ehud’s spine “but in mine, people respect me and do my will. Now, do eithter of you currently and successfully govern 19 galaxies?”
Ehud swallowed, Rosario used this voice around people she really wanted to rattle. And it worked, especially since he knew this guy wasn’t his friend and wouldn’t hesitate to kill him if he could do so conveniently (not the least because Ehud successfully got on more nerves than he’d intended).
“No? Then I propose you get a grip.” With that he slipped back into his false persona for the benefit of everyone around them. “I hope I made sense! Any questions?”
“Ye-” Ehud bit his tongue and shook his head. As quietly as possible he took the blind girl’s hand and lead them both out of the way, whispering to her in a low but no less triumphant voice “Yep, he’s a psychopath.”To be a light to the world you must shine in the darkness.
November 24, 2020 at 11:19 pm #122043“Are you the king?” A woman said, with a graceful curtsy.
Aha, finally, someone with some sense. “Yes, I am. Kami Seim.” Kami replied.
Ehud started to say something and then halted. Kami cocked his head at him but Ehud turned away with the girl.
This guy was unbearable.
