@the-fledgling-artist, Here I am, replying late again. Sorry about that. Life has been a bit crazy lately.
I’m still working on outlining my fantasy story. (I don’t know if you remember, but you drew one of my characters for this story some time ago. 🙂) It’s been coming along slowly but surely.
I feel like I’ve been swamped in art lately. I’m…[Read more]

I’m going to have to echo @sarah-inkdragon here. 😛
I’ve finally had time to write a full-length novel for the first time in a year. And essentially, I didn’t have an outline. I knew the plot points. I knew vaguely how my character would change. I knew the first scene. So I just wrote that, and by the end, I had a vague…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist, Ah! Sorry for a late reply! I have been doing pretty good. Been staying busy lately with art projects, writing, and just home life. How about you? Have you been making any new art lately?

@the-fledgling-artist Depends on what you mean by working on IT! I started one story a while back, then decided it was terrible and just took the half of the story after the midpoint and revamped it, renamed a bunch of characters, redid the plot, and changed a bunch of personalities. It’s barely recognizable from where it was a year ago! I like it…[Read more]

To answer your question about brainstorming: there is some brainstorming that takes place before I begin the outline…typically when a story idea comes to me, I think about it for a week and analyze it for its strengths and weaknesses and whether or not I like it enough to stick to it. That involves brainstorming on pretty…[Read more]

Number one. FLEDGE YOU’RE BACK!!!! *tacklehugs* I’ve missed you!
Number two. Outlines. So, I am a pantser. Tho I’ve started leaning more towards plantser recently. A lot of the time I do a ton of brainstorming in my head, or talk some specific points out with people, which sets off more ideas. And then I keep most of it in…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist Heyo! You’ve got dedication! 😀 But hey, I enjoy me some thread digging, too. 😉
Some basics: I love cats, like learning Japanese, and dabble (not well) in art from time to time. My current WIP is a speculative fiction about a group of teens in a rural mountain village who deal with danger surrounding one of their friends…[Read more]

well… I find that when I get story ideas, I’m usually Doug some kind of thing where I can’t physically write out an outline or the idea, because my hands are occupied. But I think that I usually do more brainstorming before, like in my WIP I wrote out a majority of what I have written before I realized I had zero idea on…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist HEY! You’re back! (Sorry, I don’t think you know me yet, but I’ve seen some of your stuff. I love your art, by the way! 😀 )
I typically daydream about my stories when I’m supposed to be doing school for a while before I write it. I jot down my random ideas on OneNote, arrange them chronologically, and kind of go from there!…[Read more]

Hi there! 😀
Personally, outlining is part in the writing process where I have the most fun. Planning and plotting come pretty natural to me. One thing that I have noticed about outlining, however, is that not all methods work with all books.
For example, I have two WIP right now, one historical fiction and another set in…[Read more]

Haha, I feel the same way! I hardly ever write outlines to start. I usually start the idea of the story first, then after I have a good idea of what the concept is, then I start writing.
Usually with my outlines, I have a basic idea of what will happen, but I don’t know the majority of the storyline. So I start…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist Ay, great idea for a thread!!
And I’m not going to go and tag all the guys who commented… BUT! Thank you, everybody! This was a very helpful thread to read. Out of all my stories, all 20-something WIPs, I think I only have one with a female MC. Dunno why, but I tend to gravitate towards male MCs. Always have. The one with…[Read more]

Ok! Here are my characters!
Gwendolyn Mock is the main character in my novel for NaNo. It’s set in kinda medieval times, but I never specify a year. She’s 23, with long, dark brown hair that she wears in a braid tied with a bit of green ribbon. In a braid, her hair reaches to about her waist. She wears a simple brown tunic (over a white…[Read more]

@nuetrobolt  I’d love to do one of your characters, if you don’t mind.. My style is more realistic than cartoony, though.  I’d like to try either Rathgar or Jay, but since you tagged @the-fledgling-artist first, I’ll give her first dibs. 😉
